Remember back in 1994 after Ayrton's death they put a chicane in at Eau Rouge to slow down the cars. But removed it for 1995. They might reconsider it after yesterday. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Terrible news. Terrible crash RIP Thoughts and prayers to family and friends. UPDATE; Alfa Romeo RacingVerified account @alfaromeoracing Glad to say that Juan Manuel Correa’s condition is stable. Suffering fractures to both of his legs and a minor spinal injury, Juan Manuel underwent surgery and is resting in Intensive Care. Get well soon JM.
You do wonder if teams on a fast, low downforce track like Spa, take too much risks with a corner like Eau Rouge/Raidillion. If've seen a couple of F2 cars drifting a bit through Raidillion.
As they break down what happened, it’s even worse. Alesi spun out on Eau Rouge into Radillion, Hubert went into the runoff area to avoid him, spun then hit the wall and was tboned by Correa. It was originally reported that he lost control in Eau Rouge. He was the victim in every way in this tragedy
You mean drivers, not teams. Risk is what the drivers manage around the entire track. This is the entire essence of racing and what a driver is paid to do.
In a sense it reminded me of Zanardi’s crash - a direct t-bone at full speed. It’s amazing the other driver wasn’t more seriously injured. Just heartbreaking.
Correa’s condition doesn’t look good. https://www.formula1.com/en/latest/article.correa-in-induced-coma-following-belgian-f2-crash.E2T0tZqeMQkTGRKYsIVVP.html
