There was a time I loved the stripe. It's just me. Because I can take it off I will take it off. I like the cars both ways. If I had it to do over again I'd still buy a non stripe car but I have 20K miles on mine. I drive it every week.

LOL. My stripe was as real as it gets, it just wasn't installed by the factory.

The fake stripe nomenclature is used by some to justify higher resale values or downgrade non-factory stripe cars. The correct wording should be aftermarket. I could care less which you have.

    I'm undecided...

In Dec I purchased 1 owner 9K mile amazing condition Rosso Scuderia/Red Alcantara 360CS with aftermarket stripe. Paint is amazing. Car has partial hood PPF. I'm planning on filling in a few small chips on the side-skirts and having the entire car PPFd for worry free driving. I like the look of the stripe and felt placing the PPF over the stripe will give it a great look, preserve stripe and hide edges; intent however is not to pretend it's OEM.

I'm having second thoughts after seeing a non-stripe car I also like the "cleaner" non-stripe look. I may remove the stripe place the PPF and get a feel for the look. My rationale is I can always place another sticker/stripe over the PPF. And, although I don't anticipate selling it may give the option in listing as an aftermarket stripe vs non stripe car or give a future buyer option without having to remove the PPF if they don't want the stripe.

    Any thoughts or opinions?
    Thanks

I would place the stripe over the ppf for the very reasons you mention.

I am a no red/no stripe kind of guy! I just don't think the car needs the stripe other than to yell to the uninitiated. The look is distinctive enough and spot on by itself.

Hi just reviving this thread as a potential buyer. Like most,I prefer rosso w factory stripe, but am open to really clean examples w aftermarket or no stripe if the deal is good.

I find the market on these cars difficult to gauge. I’ve found a couple cars with issues who have come down to 200k thanks to finding info on the registry that wasn’t on the Carfax etc.

There’s one at 230k I’ve got my eye on, but I feel the market will soften as winter approaches. I have no interest in the 300k examples with 2-3k miles. Nice for someone, just not me.

I’m open to suggestions, if anyone knows of cars worth a look not listed on the registry or normal outlets.

seasonality doesnt impact price much - if the 230K car checks all the boxes and its clean id jump on it now rather than hoping the asking price drops a couple percent. finding clean stuff not the easiest thing to do so when you do find it i say go for it

is there a story with this one?

I don't think we should assume there is anything wrong with it. That is just the way auctions are. Auction estimates were high in Monterey this year and interest moderate.
