BTW: Spoke with the designer of the 812GTS about the "large" flat space between the buttresses and asked why no details to break up this surface. He said they thought long and hard about it and there are just too many other designs features and the car didn't need more. Interesting observation that the flat surface looked "smaller" on the RC car than the grey car to me. Possibly because the RC was darker and it "hides" the surface better.

Just back in the hotel after the seeing the 812 GTS in the metal.
Too tired to type much but Just to say I really really liked it. Very rarely do I prefer a spider to a coupe but with the 812 I really do.

How would you describe the Grigio GTS color? Like a liquid silver as others have opined, mostly from pictures?

Baby's definitely got back. Either that is a tiny driver or that is one humongous buttress hulking over him looking like Godzilla trying to swallow its prey. Safety first, I guess...

Still think the rear is too busy, but that side shot is the million $$ view! And, if it's $400 K like intimated above, and limited only by time and capacity, I hope they make and sell a million, and that someone orders one in avorio over chocolate, 'cause I'd look great in that car 5 years down the road!

I have an order in for the 812 coupe mad have asked my dealer if they will change my order to the GTS. Not sure I rate high enough to get one yet but never hurts to ask.

Totally disagree but hey ho, everyone’s got their opinion... the 812 has been a triumph and I think the GTS will be a corker too....imvho

Yep, I wish Ferrari and other manufacturers could have had much more "freedom" in car design, but it's a no-no, hence nowadays many cars look almost the same. No more pop-up headlights. :(

Under the lights it didn’t pop anymore than say Silverstone. I wasn’t actually aware it was a special colour.
But the car looked great, don’t doubt that for a second!

A hunchback in a human is medically termed kyphosis and is an abnormal forward curvature in the upper back.I don’t know what’s the technical term for a hunchback in a car but I see two on the 812 GTS. Some racing Ferraris of the past like the 750 Monza (1954) had one hunchback and I believe there wasn’t any with two. One of the first racing cars two show two hunchbacks distinctively was the 1953 Alfa Romeo 6C 3000 CM made for racing the Mille Miglia and driven by the great Juan Manuel Fangio. Below I post some picture of the 812 GTS and the Alfa Romeo 6C side by side and it seems the later has inspired Ferrari in the design of the spiders rear sections.

I cannot imagine many buyers being put off by the 10% premium in price to a normal 812.
If I had an 812, I'd be trading straight into one of these.
I expect 812 values to come off significantly - it'll depreciate like an F12 now.

But then it would look like so many other cars, so predictable.
The genius of Italian design is what the 812GTS does; it excites, it expresses a sense of energy, it polarizes and draws your attention.

I wondered that myself. It would be good if someone can produce a render or two.
