McLaren: Ferrari veto is simply outdated Source Planet F1 McLaren have again urged Liberty Media to axe Ferrari’s veto when writing up the 2021 Concorde Agreement. The Concorde Agreement is the document by which Formula 1 as a whole is governed. And, up until today, it includes a concession for Ferrari, the sport’s longest-serving team. Under the Agreement Ferrari have the right to veto any decision that they do not agree with. But while the Scuderia have seldom used this, McLaren team boss Andreas Seidl says it shouldn’t even exit. "We have a clear opinion," said the McLaren boss. "I don’t think we need any other team to represent us in any forums. "I think it’s simply outdated and we hope that this doesn’t exist anymore from ’21 onwards."
They're wrong. Well, actually they aren't, but **** off. I bet that Ferrari doesn't give a **** about the veto, they almost never use it. But it's a good way of getting more money: "ok, we give the veto but you give us more money in exchange".
No. They have a rich F1 history and of all the mid-field teams are most viable and dedicated to F1 in my opinion.
They haven’t been in F1 since the beginning, Ferrari have.... they deserve to keep the veto... imagine the crap engines and **** rules if ferrari weren’t able to argue, it’s bad enough now with v6 lawnmowers with a Duracell bunny in tow
In terms of success, I believe they are the second best team in the history if F1; behind Ferrari, but they started 15 years later. Ferrari: 16 WCCs, 15 WDCs and 235 GP wins. McLaren: 8 WCCs, 12 WDCs and 180 GP wins.
This sport is Ferrari's...everyone is just getting to play in the sandbox. Without Ferrari, there is no Formula One. To hell with McLaren...if they don't like it, they can leave. Ferrari has been there since the beginning. Just look at the stands...Ferrari is F1. Someone needs to be able to check the knuckleheads at FOM and ensure they don't ruin the DNA of this sport. Forza Ferrari.
In fairness, your past history isn't erased because you have a couple of bad years. Remember, Ferrari had long spells without success at times. Granted, McLaren hasn't been doing brillantly in the last 5 years. But among the teams that have Fallen on hard time, I think it's the one the most likely to bounce back.
Sorry Zak Brown is messing too much with Indy and 5 new models of street cars a year to be bothered turning around his F1 team.
Mike Flewitt is CEO of McLaren Automotive, the road car business. Zak Brown is president of McLaren Racing, which is a different company, with Mattias Seidl as CEO.. They are both parts of McLaren Technical Group headed by Mohamed bin Isa al Khalifa. The man who could put McLaren back on track is Ing. Seidl who has ben quite successful at leading Porsche in endurance to 3 WEC titles.
So do I, up to a point, but for them to weigh in with an opinion on Ferrari having a veto is distasteful. It’s none of their business, and F1 has felt it pertinent to give the veto to Ferrari, so why should McLaren override that
We made a car that can only win at Monza but lose at every other track this year. If we can't make a winning car, then we'll be history forever.
Better to have the history we have than be McLaren these days Forza Ferrari..... the only racing team and car marque that matters. Italia forever It’s easier to apologise than it is to ask permission
