The 2019 FOG Rally is officially 'in the books". We are proud to announce that this year's Rally was the most successful in our history! Through the generous support of our sponsors and donors, Rally driver and participants, and the Greater Bay Area Ferrari Community we were able to donate $395,000 to Make-A-Wish chapters in California. · Having met our goal to fund 35 wishes in honor of their 35th anniversary, we presented Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area a check for $350,000. · In recognition of their support in hosting Meet and Greet events the last two years, we presented Make-a-Wish Northeastern & Central California and Northern Nevada a check for $25,000. · On the Rally, Joe Keon, FOCF Chairman and Founder was surprised with a special gift in recognition of his years of service and many contributions to the FOG Rally and the Ferrari Owners Charitable Foundation. As a result, on his behalf, we presented Make-A-Wish with an additional check for $20,000. This brings the total of our donations to Make-A-Wish to $1,845,000 resulting in more than 185 children with critical illnesses receiving wishes. And, this brings the total of our donations to Greater Bay Area charities to over $2,000,000 since 2011! We want to thank our sponsors and donors, Rally drivers and participants, guests and supporters, members of the FOCF community, and members of the Greater Bay Area Ferrari community. Without you this would not have been possible!
We are proud to present to you the 2019 FOG Rally film. For those of you who were on the Rally, we hope it will remind of you of the fun, excitement and charity we shared. Hi Everyone, During this time of unprecedented uncertainty we hope this communication finds you and your family safe and healthy. Although the 2020 FOG Rally is still some months away, we want you to know we are closely monitoring the impact of COVID-19 and the related governmental requirements and recommendations. As a result, while we are judiciously moving forward with planning and preparation for the Rally, we’ve decided to postpone early registration. We will review this decision in mid-April and then determine the appropriate next steps. It is our sincere hope this pandemic will soon be brought under control, our lives can return to a new normal, and we can come together to celebrate a decade of making a difference for kids. Executive Committee on behalf of the Board of Directors
April 9, 2020 Hi Everyone, We hope you and your family continue to be safe and healthy as we follow the statewide, mandatory shelter-in-place order and do what we can to flatten the curve of this terrible COVID-19 virus. Since we expect further local and state announcements in May, we've decided to continue to postpone early registration for the 2020 FOG Rally. In the meantime, we are continuing to work on preparations for the Rally while also exploring other options if we are not able to proceed as planned. We look forward to the time when this pandemic is under control, we are able to enjoy our lives in the 'new normal', and we can come together to celebrate a decade of making a difference for kids. May 20, 2020 Dear FOCF Community, We’ve been looking forward to celebrating the 10th Anniversary 2020 FOG Rally with you this September and wish we were writing to let you know registration was now open. However, we are disappointed we cannot gather with you to celebrate this milestone in 2020. Given the uncertainty created by the COVID-19 pandemic and our concern for the health and safety of everyone involved, the Board has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 FOG Rally and postpone our 10th anniversary celebration until 2021. The10th Anniversary 2021 FOG Rally, celebrating a decade of making a difference in the lives of kids, will now take place September 23rd to 26th, 2021. The Launch Party at Menlo Circus Club in Atherton and our destination to Ritz Carlton - Bacara in Santa Barbara remain unchanged. In the months ahead we will be working to understand what will be possible so that we can make your 10th Anniversary 2021 FOG Rally experience truly memorable. SAVE THE DATE! We hope you and your family, your friends and colleagues continue to be safe and well. Executive Committee on behalf of the Board of Directors
May 21, 2020 Dear FOCF Community, Just as the pandemic is impacting the annual FOG Rally, it is also impacting the Rally’s beneficiaries - kids and their families in the Greater Bay Area. Unlike us, they can’t wait. They need help now. We believe the strong camaraderie and proven generosity of the FOCF Community place us in a unique position to respond. As a result, today we are launching the FOCF COVID-19 Relief for Children and Families campaign. The goal of this campaign is to raise $30,000 in 30 days and then quickly distribute it to local organizations where our donation will make a direct and immediate impact. These are three ways you can help: 1. Donate Now (https://focf.tofinoauctions.com/covid19relief/give/index). To increase the impact of your gift, the Board of Directors will match the first $10,000 raised, effectively doubling the value of your donation of any amount until this milestone is reached. 2. Nominate local organizations in immediate need of help by emailing us at: [email protected]. Share your knowledge of your community to identify where we can have the maximum direct impact and make a real difference. 3. Tell others. Share the link to the campaign. Post on social media. The more people who become involved, the greater our chance of success. For more information click here: COVID-19 Relief for Children and Families Campaign (https://focf.tofinoauctions.com/covid19relief/homepages/show) We want to thank you again for your past support of the FOG Rally which has made it possible for FOCF to donate over $2M to help kids and make a difference in our community. Now, we are asking you to make it possible for us to help even more children and families through this direct appeal campaign. We are deeply grateful for all you have done and anything more you can do. We hope you and your family, your friends and colleagues continue to be safe and well. May 27, 2020 .. One Week . Two Grants . Three Needs Met .... Thank you for your initial response to the COVID-19 Relief for Children and Families campaign to raise $30,000 in 30 days. Today we are announcing our first gifts of $3,000 each to Larkin Street Youth Services and Napa Valley New Deal! These gifts will truly have a direct and immediate impact on children and families in the Greater Bay Area. Larkin Street Youth Services was nominated by Joe Keon and had been initially selected as a designated charity for the 2020 FOG Rally. Our gift of $3,000 represents $1,500 from your donations and a $1,500 dollar-for-dollar match from the FOCF Board. This gift will provide food and groceries for 30 youth for up to two weeks; 100% of our contribution will go directly to young people who need it most. The pandemic puts into sharp relief how vulnerable those experiencing homelessness are in this country. It is hard to shelter-in-place, stock up on food, or even wash your hands with no permanent roof over your head. The impact on young people has been particularly severe: nearly 50% of employed youth Larkin Street serves have been either laid off, furloughed, or had their hours sharply reduced. To ensure these youth can meet their basic needs, including food and groceries, Larkin Street is distributing Safeway gift cards to youth they serve. Napa Valley New Deal was nominated by Tony Abdulmassih. Our gift of $3,000 represents $1,500 from your donations and a $1,500 dollar-for-dollar match from the FOCF Board. This gift will provide 300 meals to children and families in Napa Valley; 100% of our contribution will go directly for low-income families suffering extreme financial hardship. Prior to the Coronavirus pandemic, 42% of St. Helena Unified School District’s students qualified for free and reduced lunch. Since the Covid-19 mandatory stay-at-home orders, this community has experienced a very troubling 500% increase in need. Currently, Napa County school districts are providing Grab-and-Go breakfasts and lunches five days a week. Napa Valley New Deal, a volunteer-led group, is augmenting this with dinners during St. Helena Unified School District’s daily distributions. Children receive healthy, delicious meals prepared by the staff of participating restaurants, who in some cases are able to remain employed due to their participation in this program. The portions are generous – often enough to feed children and their parents for more than one night. These well-balanced, tasty meals are made by professional cooks working in commercial kitchens, using the highest safety standards. We promised you this campaign will be different due to our focus on speed, engagement, impact - and communication. You will receive a weekly report so you know who is receiving our gifts and how they will make a difference. Although we are off to a great start, your help is still needed: 1. Donate. Any amount. The Board will match the first $10,000 in donations, effectively doubling the value of your gift. 2. Nominate. Tell us about an organization - no matter how small - where you believe our donation can make a direct and immediate impact. The Board's Giving Committee (Tony Abdulmassih, Chris Dolan and Evan Shone) will take it from there. 3. Share. Tell as many people as possible. June 3, 2020 Two weeks. Four grants. Many needs met. More to do! Dear FOCF Community, Our newly launched COVID-19 Relief for Children and Families Campaign is meeting with immediate success! We appreciate each and every donation we’ve received; thank you. As a result of your generosity and kindness, today we are able to announce two additional gifts of $3,000 each to help more children and families in the Greater Bay Area. It's not too late to help. Your donation - of any amount - will truly make a difference in enabling us to raise $30,000 in 30 days! DONATE NOW to COVID-19 Relief for Children and Families This week's grants: Palo Alto Community Fund (PACF) was nominated by Len Ely. Our gift of $3,000 represents $1,500 from your donations and a $1,500 dollar-for-dollar match from the FOCF Board. This gift will make it possible for 15 families to avoid having to choose between buying groceries or covering other living expenses such as rent or a mortgage; 100% of our contribution will go directly to families who need it most. Through PACF, a group of self-organized Palo Alto Unified School District parents - also known as “The Squad” - have come together to provide direct financial relief to families struggling due to COVID-19 and the shelter in place order. With the gift cards they provide families can purchase basic life needs such as food, gas and/or medicine. To date, they've delivered gift cards to over 500 families who live in Palo Alto, East Palo Alto, Menlo Park and other neighboring cities. Edgewood Center for Children and Families was nominated by Chris Dolan and Tony Abdulmassih. Our gift of $3,000 represents $1,500 from your donations and a $1,500 dollar-for-dollar match from the FOCF Board. This gift will provide gift-cards, food, and care packages to meet the basic needs of Bay Area children, youth and families; 100% of our contribution will go directly where it can have the most impact now. For 169 years, San Francisco's Edgewood Center for Children and Families has helped low-income children, youth and their families through earthquakes, fires, depressions, recessions, and world wars. Today’s pandemic and social unrest is no different and, as a result, Edgewood is meeting the most basic needs of vulnerable populations hardest hit by these traumatic events. Specifically, they are providing: gift cards to pay for necessities needed to address isolation and food insecurity during the Shelter in Place order; emergency care packages containing food, clothing and personal hygiene items to support Transition Age Youth (mainly former foster children) experiencing homelessness and marginal housing such as living in cars or on couches; and, a dedicated Food Bank to ensure access to food through https://focf.tofinoauctions.com/covid19relief/homepages/showpick-up locations and household delivery in the event they are unable to make it to the grocery store or need to avoid the risk of infection caused by standing in long crowded food lines. In addition to making a donation, you can help by: 1) nominating an organization where you feel our donation will have a direct and immediate impact by emailing us at [email protected]; and, 2) reaching out to your family, friends and colleagues to let them know about the campaign and how they can help.
