Agree, far from perfect but lately things look a bit better, perhaps his changes do take time...let's wait a bit more..
Binotto is rebuilding the team in a very effective way. No one could imagine the mess inside the scuderia following the death of marchionne. Seems he has the trust of the employees which is the most important thing ( arrivabene main difference ) He is calm and pondered. Engine department is top notch. Big improvements needed for chassis and aero. He is perfectly aware of this and I am sure he has a plan ..( for next year already) 8 for me
7 much better than mini bully Arrivabene whom I called partemale and ruled by fear and intimidation. He will be a good long term leader whilst bringing back a positive atmosphere in the team. There were however some bad calls but he is gaining assurance and will I am sure excell.
Solid six, needs work, but looking positive, if only Pirelli hadn’t swapped tyres AFTER the testing for the season, maybe we would have had a few more chances, but the car was still a shot in the dark
Binotto? Sometimes during the season I had an impression that she could replace him with a great success. ;-) Image Unavailable, Please Login
Binotto is a poor judge of character. He has made a bit tactical error in prefering Vettel to early in the season. Most of his strategic decisions during races have also been wrong. I gave him a 4. He is certainly not in the sale league as Christian Horner or Toto Wolff.
A generous 5. His star driver is imploding. They’ve lost races due to technical and strategic reasons Overall performance in standings is poor. OTOH, a young driver is showing promise, mid season improvements in the car, so potential for a bit of a turn around. But this is not a year he will look back on favourably if he continues to have a career at this level. And yes, he looks like Kramer with Harry potters glasses....whatever.
6. While I like his calm style and agree he seems to be building up the team based on trust and technical ability, it's difficult to know as an outsider how much of the positive reports on that are genuine and how much are PR. We previously had honeymoon periods for team principals who didn't get the team into shape to sustain a title fight, so the proof of Binotto's success is yet to come. Next year's car will be the first one designed, constructed, and developed all fully under his leadership with the department heads he selected - this year is still really a transition year. So my vote of 6 is cautiously optimistic. I expect the number to improve next year. All the best, Andrew.
Totally agree with this but I have a small reservation. Whilst he his technically very good, does he have leadership quality?. The team needs a General . Horner and Toto are possibly better on team management but not in the same league on the technical. So we could ask the question is Binotto better technically than Horner and Wolf - yes. Will the team benefit - I hope so. I gave a 6 Tony
3-4 at best. Ferrari would be 3rd in the WCC if RBR had two drivers all year. As it stands, 2nd in the WCC is a gift. He made SV their #1 driver despite plenty of reasons not to. He actively screwed Leclerc out of points and positions in order to favor Vettel. One of Arrivabene's big problems was not ever getting a handle on the pit wall. That part of Ferrari is as bad as it has ever been, and Binotto is sitting on his hands and doing nothing about it. They've built 2 championship capable cars in the last 3 seasons, and poor decision making kept Ferrari from winning them. They are still mired in poor decision making, with no end in sight.
Clearly Binotto has “lost the room” when it comes to his drivers. Neither have any respect for him or his decisions. When neither an elder statesman or a rookie give a damn about your leadership, you are dead in the water.
I’m not impressed. He does not strike me as a leader with any presence. I gave him a 5. I’d rather he take care of the car and let the drivers just race without any Plan A, B, C, S, **** that. Let them drive. Robb
Solid 8 so far. Ferari is def. improving, the engine is currently the best out there. Aero seems to be improving given Ferrari's improved pace on low to medium speed tracks. Charles's 4 poles in a row is unprecedented since Schumi. Team management needs to improve though, coordination between Vet and Lec box needs improvement. Let's stay positive.
Binotto already has a couple of decades at Ferrari. With a technical background unlike the cigarette salesman. All CH did was lose SV and DR. Full credit to TW for poaching James Allison and cutting lose to Renault that french driver!!!
