Rest peacefully.
Cole's Birthday stats: On 8 innings, 96 pitches, 1 hit, 15K's I don't see how Jim Crane won't break the bank and keep as much of these 5-star guys as they can. These guys I think would rather continue to win than be the highest paid.
For real scintillating action, find a recording of yesterday's Mets-Phils game. And pack a big lunch and a case of beer. 4 hours, 29 minutes for 9 innings, one minute shy of the MLB record (almost assuredly set by Yanks-Red Sox).
NUMBER 7 for the Dodgers.... Best in the West - again! https://www.mlb.com/news/dodgers-clinch-seventh-straight-nl-west-title
Yelich fractures kneecap --- out for the SEASON for the Brewers when only one game out of the WC behind the Cubs. https://www.mlb.com/news/christian-yelich-exits-with-knee-injury
Tragic. Yelich was in the running for NL MVP. Plus he was alot of fun to watch...except when he beat my cardinals. BTW the cards have gone from the worst defense in the NL to the best under Schilt their new manager since last year’s all star game.
What is going on with the Redsux! One bad year and the team is in disarray. First the firing of Dombrowski and now their even considering getting rid of Alex Cora. Boo Hoo! https://www.masslive.com/redsox/2019/09/alex-coras-job-security-boston-red-sox-ownership-has-yet-to-assure-manager-hell-remain-when-new-gm-is-hired.html
More fun to watch than pro wrestling. Dombrowski was a surprise but maybe they didn't all agree they should put that much $$s into Sale and that guy who's had T John twice already (c'mon Nathan, love you man). There were a lot of games Kimbrel could have helped out with this year, way too many, prob should have just signed him with some of that cash...but it is a lot of cash, let's see if Matt Barnes can close some games out for us (ouch). Cora will be fine, those aren't his decisions and he's liked here. Apparently you may not want to be the guy making those decisions
I don't know much about this, but I thought it was interesting none the less. My friends wife's 1st cousin is Tyler Naquin of the Indians. He blew out his ACL a few weeks ago. My friend invited me to church on Sunday and his mom was there. Apparently they've all been taking care of him and he's driving them crazy lol. Anyways, I found it interesting that (i swear I heard this) some of his friends and teammates packed up his apartment for him. I thought that was pretty cool. I was also surprised that he wasn't seeking treatment in Cleveland, but I guess you can go where ever. It's apparently one of the main doctors that works on athletes. I believe same guy that worked on Watson. Edit: Yep, Dr. Lowe is his name. I've met him when we stood in the wedding together. My friend speaks to him regularly and Tyler's brother works for my friend. Kinda funny.
So, I just heard this stat. In the same decade, the Astros had three - 100 consecutive loss seasons and three - 100 consecutive win seasons in the same decade. That's ****ing impressive. I know I'm hometown homer. But that's incredible. There will be a statue of Jim Crane one day. lol
Agree Cora will remain. He’s part of the culture of the team. He’s also a great guy personally - went out of his way for my son a couple of times before/after games to give him a ball or broken bat and he does a lot locally too. Plus it’s one off season, not a trend. And coming off a WS win, he’s got a pass or two coming. Sale’s contract was definitely a lot. Too much if you ask me and he hasn’t had an exemplary seasoned back it up. Disagree they should have Paid Dirty Craig though. He doesn’t have the same lights out abilities he used to. Last season there were several games he blew. Between him and Kelly it was always an anxious end even with a few run lead.
Last year everything seemed to work right for the Red Sox; this year just the opposite seemed to happen. Instead their good luck seemed to go to the Yankees, whose year was more phenomenal when you look at their injured list all year long. Now that Severino and Stanton are back, how high is up? Aaron Boone pointed out that last year they were just happy to win 100 games and make the playoffs; this year that won't be good enough.
Cards sweep Cubs 4 games to zilch in Chi and clinch a spot in the playoffs. Brewers nipping at their heels for NL Central title. Shildt should be NL Manager of the year. Went from the team with the most errors last year to the LEAST ERRORS this year. They play AZ on the road and then the Cubs at home to finish the regular season.
Typical late season falloff for the Cubs. I always attributed that to the wear that they put on themselves by playing far more day games than any other team; that has to take a toll eventually.
With it being football sunday, I forgot all about the astros games. Had no idea that Springer hit 3 bombs. I was worried that hitting his head on the wall may affect him. Glad to see not.
