Right. Therefore they are NOT doing that.

    A Ferrari 1 - 2 is all that matters.

I think the concern is that, of Leclerc’s 5 poles, (2) resulted in Vettel improved position over him due to pit strategy. One was lost due to mechanical issues (failed turbocharger) and he won Spa and Monza (no chance for position changes during pits).

People are basically saying that if you have a strong up-and-coming driver, having a trend of gifting his wins to his teammate is a way to make him do a Ricciardo. Drivers do come and go and you don’t want to push a young gun out the door, right?

    Exactly.

I admit that I was the first to rant over Seb's "loss of form" lately, but I'm very glad now to see flashes of the dominant "2013 Seb" again. His drive today was amazing. And this win truly deserved.

Two strong drivers is what we need at the Scuderia.

Hahaha yes it was fantastic. Really all it meant was "listen we are going to deal with a fragile Louise, please make it slightly less hard for us by giving the place up..."

Binotto: When we stopped Sebastian, Verstappen was ready to stop and we had to protect his position. It was the best opportunity to overtake Hamilton. And then, later on, we would have stopped Charles and it should have been clear for him.

Binotto: It was the right time to stop Sebastian - when going out. He drove very well on the tyres and simply that is racing. We could not have stopped Charles at that stage because if you are leading the race at that point you will not stop first.

    Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

That race did not go at ALL like I expected.

Ferrari has, in the past, been very bad at picking when to pit, on street courses.
But they got it right for Vettel, today.
Not quite so much for Leclerc.

But Merc got it wrong, for a change.
I see what they were trying to do: Waiting for the Ferraris to get hung up by the late pitters, but Ham just ran out of tires.
Then, after spending all those laps saying "leave me out, my tires are fine",
then in the post-race, Ham was claiming he wanted to undercut. Riiight.

Vettel looked like someone woke him up, today. Maybe he's starting to worry about his seat. ;)

No real stand-outs for "driver of the day", IMO.
Vettel got lucky. Not much chance for anyone to really excel in such a tight track.
    If anyone, maybe Hulk.

(Hulk needs a ride for next year, if for no other reason to get more camera time for his girlfriend. :p)

A great result for Scuderia Ferrari.

The team played a good strategy that worked well for the....team.

Seb benefitted, maybe helps soothe some angst after Montreal etc. He showed again he's at his best out front with a fast car. Good to see #5 smile.

We all know Charles is the future, but a more content teammate is very much in his and the team's best interest. Frankly I'm happy with the 1-2 order.

    But regardless of that:

    Forza Ferrari !
    Forza Seb !
    Forza Charles !

MB was delaying LH's pit stop as long as possible that's why they held VB back.

He did say let's undercut them on the radio at first.

Baloney, when Hamilton didn't pit, they had no choice but to do this to try for the 1-2. Not only that but they forced merc off the podium. There's no way they get a 1-2 if they pit leclerc first, no way. And they'd have handed merc a podium by doing so, instead they drop them off the podium. This was the best possible result.

We should be celebrating that Ferrari completely outclassed merc on strategy for once.

Yeah, lost a lot of respect for him. They pushed merc off the podium and he screwed Vettel in monza qual, so his whining was really off putting here.

Is that Valsecchi? Oh my, he looks as goofy as he sounds on F2 broadcasts. It's unfortunate because he's a quite astute commentator.

But I'm sure that's not why you posted that pic :)

They should have told Charles that Vettel pitted. Not the first time they do that.

I've lost zero respect of Charles. In fact, I've gained respect for him. he supported a Ferrari 1 -2 in the best way possible. When Charles says he won't do anything stupid, I trust him 100%. If the guy is anything, he is honest and sincere. So what if he asked about the strategy? They ALL do!
