    It not easy to find a machine shop to work on my 308 block / crank near Berkeley CA. The usual shops are very busy and not taking any new work, so I'm considering shipping the parts to get them worked on almost anywhere reputable. Any suggestions / recommendations gratefully received!

    I have used Lesco Engines in San Luis Obispo before with excellant results.

    Have you tried Norman Racing (Alfa Parts Berkeley)? They did my heads.

    First, what do you need done?
    Second, my machinist of choice is in San Mateo, pretty close to Berkeley.

    Hi. I need the short block measuring machining and building up. I have tried Lesco, Tim Morgan in Walnut Creek, Patrick Otis, Bailey Brothers, Rankin Performance Machine and Norman Racing. Norman Racing send their block work to to Tim Morgan, as does Patrick Otis I believe. Morgan isn't taking in any work, same with Lesco. Its the same story everywhere, not many shops doing the work and lots of work to do...!

    Doug has been at this on Ferrari's for a long-long time. He's always pretty busy, but I think he's worth the wait.
