19 + 20 GT350 have suspension improvements, better tires, new wheels, etc. I talked to Jim Ownes, head of Ford Performance at a show, and he said the 19 and 20 improvements make it equal to an 18R. Plus I like the darker twister orange for 20 versus the orange fury for 19
I believe either the 19s or if not, definitely the 2020 GT350s have a new engine code. Hopefully they fixed whatever was causing them to grenade.
I have found a 2019 red GT350 for 5,999 off sticker. The upgrades to the 2019 GT350 are well worth the money versus dipping into the earlier, cheaper used varieties.
Shmee walk thru vid, see all colors/specs and hear it roaring down track straight (yeah I know, but he does a pretty thorough overview) tip: watch at 1.5 playback speed
Just listen to fly-by at 12:24 THAT SOUND!!! Now that is what AMERICAN MUSCLE sounds like!!! No turbo pffft crap.
Image Unavailable, Please Login Car was built October 1, showed up yesterday. Raining here all week so they pulled it off the truck and right into the showroom. Hopefully pick it up this coming Saturday.
Yes, The optional handling package, which is basically adjustable caster camber plates for $850, along with a add on to the rear wing. Kind of a duck bill spoiler. The only options I did were handling package and car cover, and twister orange was $495, and a black painted roof for $695. I did NOT get the electronics package, which then would have required leather seats. And I did not get the optional carbon fiber dash trim.
That’s the new spoiler for 19 with the optional handling package add on piece. so if you see a wing without it then you know it does not have the handling package.
Plans for the car are 4 point Watson Engineering roll bar with 5 point belts, jacking pads, oil catch cans, tint the windows 20%, and clear wrap the hood, bumper, and fenders.
So wanted this to be a great car. Hoping they drop a diff engine in from the racer and bring back the soundtrack. And put on a diet!
Most of the leftover 2019's have the Electronics Package which puts the car into the 65k - 66k range. Enjoy
Gt500 will make sense when the aftermarket remaps it to plus 1000hp at small cost. Then its just an extreme animal street car. Stock its the hey look at me mustang, and you have to ask why it exists and what for. As for the vette compros, Its not even a comparison if youre going tot he track, for 60k you get a gt 350 that will really work on track, or for more you can get a vette that wont.
don't be so pessimistic. we don't know about vette on track yet. supposedly put in a lot of effort towards proper cooling. and gt350 is a big boned girl at almost 4000lbs that eats through tires and brakes like crazy. not ideal despite the nice engine note
The weight of the new GT is so frustrating, even more so than the poor sound. Waited years for this car. Bummer.
Undoubtably the upcoming z06 and even Gs will smoke a Gt350, and future vettes in general will be more honed and get faster. But today in 2019/20 the mustang would be my pick From my reading of the stats the vette is 3600lbs and the Gt350 3700. Theres a 100lbs weight difference and the Gt350 is well track honed by now, (steering brakes handling robustness etc), whereas the vette is a new platform that by all acounts still needs some honing. Its just a point in time, the stang is towards midpoint/end of its platform time, and the vette is a new and a more purpose built performance platform. The stang is at the zenith of development for this platform, whereas the vette is just at the very beginning and so far we're only seeing the base level of performance.. On price you can get a Gt350 for 60k easily. The vette with the right seats etc is going to set you back at least 10-15k more. Probably the zo6 vette is going to be 30k more than the 350, but also in another performance league. That all being said the 350 stang is a good out the box street/track car that works, and for 60k with the performance on hand it probably owns that price/space. The hotter vettes will probably own the 90-120k space for out the box on track, and who knows they may dominate the sub 300k space in terms of out the box track performance. But they have a ways to go. Meanwhile, unless the porcine(4200lbs) Gt500 is easily remapped to 1000hp, I dont see its point. It really is too heavy for track and to front heavy, and the challenger just seems a way better muscle car street choice. So unless youre a Ford guy I just dont get its appeal. .
