A bonnet is an old word for hat. A bee is a stinging bug. If you had a stinging bug stuck in your hat, it would repeatedly sting you and you would become angry, running around making a big scene. In this context, it means you cannot pass up an opportunity to remind everyone how awful you think the car is. Even though we already know that about you. And it comes across as angry. “Bee in your bonnet” means you are very evolved or bothered by a particular subject. But JumpinJohn has explained the phrase far better than I did. You really, really do not like the SF90! Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat.com mobile app
You are wrong. The middle east is not as big as the US and not as big as Europe. Are you seriously basing the general popularity of the SF90 vs. the F8 on what people in Dubai think? No other place has as many gaudy and ostentatious styled cars as Dubai. Hell, it's the largest importer of hideous creations from Mansory! This goes perfectly hand in hand with the fact that you so love the ridiculous looking and overpriced Lambo. It is for all intended purposes targeted at people who think like you. It is all about the looks and price, and nothing else matters. In other words, if Dubai likes it, there's a good chance the rest of the western world will see it as tacky. All initial SF90 orders have been taken more or less, it's hugely popular and the SF90 is doing well. The F8 is doing well too and not a yard stick for the SF90 popularity in any way. And why on earth are you talking about them as "investments"? NONE of them will be investments for the next 25 years, and neither will the Lambo you so fancy. Trust me, it will NOT be on the level of a LaFerrari, a P1 or the like. The performance is not there, and neither is the looks. Imagine paying two million Euro for something that will be outperformed by every other supercar on the market at a 5th of the price. Yes, I am talking about the F8 and even the C8 here, not just the SF90.
It depends. Think of old iPhones. You can find service shops who can swap renewed batteries for your old phone yet, if the phone is in minority unpopular, then your luck it out. I feel comfort with my Lexus hybrid a. I will find renewed batteries or even new ones for service backed by its huge sales number. b. Less intrusive hybrid (more for fuel efficiency than performance) means longer battery life and less needs for upgrade. For this SF90 or any other hybrid supercars, it is opposite. a. I will have outdated battery in 3 years. This is given. b. They can charge me whatever when time comes, and for this resale will suffer since nobody including even lexus hybrid buyers want those risk. In fact, lexus hybrid suffers from depreciation due to battery worries too. c. Only car manufaturers can supply batteries if the hybrid is there for performance since the battery packaging is the major part of the battery itself. You can not just open up the old pack and change cells or pouches within. You have to buy the whole thing. Not like cell phone. So if Ferrari decides on supplying only service parts not upgrade batteries with same packaging we have zero chance of swapping for new better tech. So the solution Ferrari has now and most likely they won't take will be 'EVO program' Imagine 3 years later they announce EVO update for SF90 with better battery. It will be a game changer for SF90's resale value.
I think they should exclude Ferrari, Lamborghini and all super-cars manufacturers from all these new regulations , super-cars make a very little impact on climate change, super-cars are in general very rare in numbers in comparison to other car manufacturers. It's NOT fair!

How is this different to a LaFerrari, 918, P1 etc? The batteries of those cars are already outdated. Wouldn’t it make sense for Ferrari, Porsche, McLaren to replace their outdated battery cells when the time comes with better quality more modern batteries if these are available? Or would they prefer to continue manufacturing/procuring relics for years to come? Because I cannot imagine that these companies would ever stop supporting their HyperCars...This is not a carburettor or a propshaft, it is a fuel cell that I assume can be made in the dimensions of the old cell ... not professing to know, just trying to make some sense out of this Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat
I hope so too. But battery needs conditioning accordingly with motors and harnesses. Different spec needs different hardware and so major work. Also they have to test prove it is fire safe extensively. So...it costs money for already sold car. I would bet they won’t upgrade tech for already sold ones. Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat
I think there's a very good chance that in the Future, Ferrari and the others will offer more modern batteries for their current line of hybrids. As the technology evolves, there's no reason not to. Ferrari have an interest in keeping these cars running, especially cars like the LaF. Generally speaking, Ferrari does a pretty decent job of supporting the older models, and as well as keeping the old hybrids on the roads, there are money to be made from updates. I would not be one bit surprised if Ferrari offered an update for the LaF within the next 10 years. This is also a great way to keep VS cars like the LaF attractive on the used market. Who would want to buy a LaF that does not work? The idea of keeping the car up to date with batteries etc. has as much to say in terms of future value, as low milage has.
I highly, highly, highly doubt the SF90's batteries could be easy swapped for a later 'upgraded' battery pack that has more power. The complexity of the SF90 comes into play with the ICE working in sync with the batteries.
I think what we will see is not upgrades for more power, but rather longer weight or weight reduction. Other manufactures such as VAG is already doing this with their GTE models. Imagine a 100 kg saving upgrade for the SF90 providing the same range and power as stock I'm sure stuff like that will be part of updates and the aftermarket in the future. So could adding more powerful and efficient electric motors be. While it is an advance hybrid car, it is not a space shuttle, and plenty of clever minds in the auto industry can dream up ways to improve current products.
SF 90 is not a car for enthusiasts, it s just a show car for human ego, nothing else...Sound is awful, engine without nobless , design could be an Honda car, too loud for the track and stupidly powerful for the roads...At least , you know why you buy it ! Sad to see Ferrari producing this ...
You could say this about any super car. Just one question, have you actually driven it? You make a lot of assumptions here that I don’t think are founded. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Hahahaha!! It is weird how folks have such extreme opinions that are absolute truth in their minds. I remember same types of comments about the 812. I’m obviously unaware of a real Ferrari because I love the 812 even more than the F12. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
