Colton's the one for F1... I can see him mixing it up with Max and Leclerc. Plus he's got the California 'geek cool' thing going on, which could help bring in a younger US audience.

yeah, but again....he won 2 races and 3 poles with a midfield team (w/ Andretti alliance)....where could he go in F1 to have that level of success?

Yeah, always the problem when good drivers from Indy Car make the leap over to F-1.

Bourdais, being a perfect example of a top driver but landing with Toro Rosso where he floundered
around with the inept team that eventually let him down.

Agree, Herta seems to have some savvy and agree he could take on the top drivers in the right
    equipment.

After Newgarden won his first Indy Car championship, there was talk about him looking at F-1
but haven't seen those rumors this time around.

Don't forget Scott Speed. While he didn't come from IndyCar at one time he seemed like he might be the next American to succeed in F1. then he got stuck at Toro Rosso with a so-so car, and was honest about their prospects, which did not go well with the Red Bull mgt.

I think Colton is twice the talent Scott ever was, and Toro Rosso these days is technically much stronger than back then.

Wherever he lands Colton definitely seems to have the talent to succeed. His last lap efforts at Road America this year, pitching the car into the kink on old tires and keeping it under control despite running wide on exit was a pretty confident piece of driving. And there've been plenty of other moments. Been a great rookie class all around for IC this year.

That's true. In fact, I took that picture, I believe, about 10 rows up from where those spectators were killed. I was at that race in 1999, sitting just a couple of sections away from the accident.

that would really be the best option, or maybe Haas with a Ferrari tie-in, but personally if I was him I'd stay in IndyCar.

If he has a shot at F1 and it doesn't work out, he is still young enough to return to Indycar and have a successful career.

  17. Heck, he's nigh on 29...... In F1 terms, that's near retirement age, not the age for entering it. ;)

He can stay here in the U.S....at home...and enjoy pretty much NOT living out of a suitcase. Just ask Michael. :)

More fans in the infield. That’s pretty bad

  21. How so? o_O
We know that a place like Charlotte's NASCAR territory, not IndyCar.
Also, tell me do...what part of that weekend was that shot taken, anyway? ;)

This was about an hour after qualifying ended on Friday night - there were few fans in the stands at that point for sure.

  23. 'Thought something like that. That's why I asked. :)
I've stuck around with friends having some beers, discussing what we just saw, waiting for exiting traffic to clear.
Of course the stands are empty. The show's over for the time being.

    Whatever. :)
