Yes I have done it on a Spider.
First of all you're operating on the wrong side.

    Is the bottom tray off?
Disconnect the battery power from the front boot.
Remove the driver's side rear wheel
Remove the driver's side engine cover

Remove the carpeted covers behind the driver.
Remove the metal covers for the IMMO (after marking where each wire goes. Take pics.
You will see a large grommet feeding a bunch of cables to the other side. This is where you will include your Yellow and Power cable.
I used something like this (Amazon). Tape up the one end.

Now grap a chopstick (no metal) and punch a hole through the grommets on both firewalls from the out to inside the cabin.
Attach the one end of the cables with tape to the chopstick and pull through carefully.

Next I covered my cable in a 1/2" heat shield and route to the back by the air pump (away from any exhaust heat source.). Start to finish in about 2 hours but you cannot see my cable and it is well protected from the elements and heat.

    Hope this helps

I just loosened up a couple of screws on that access panel and ran them through there. I didn't torque the screws back on. Piece of cake.

They might f with it when you have a belt service. Put in a connector so it can be disconnected easily. Here's what I use:

Thanks for the info guys. Fred, your method seems the most professional, but I don't have any way of jacking the car up. My garage is pretty small. I might try Brian's method. That seems like a quick and easy way to do it.

Just out of interest, where did you mount the camera? Just above the license plate? I have one I got as a birthday present last year to put on but am reluctant to drill holes if I can help it, in the rear bumper.

Dude, you seriously should get one of these from HF.
Lightweight and extremely low profile. Low enough to work even with a hockey puck

    Just sayin!

If you jack it up on the jack point with that, where do you put the jack stands?

Randy for this job you could keep it on the jack.
However, if you need to work under the car (such as to take off the bottom tray, change oil, tranny fluid etc..) then build yourself 4 of these.
They're cheap, HD makes the cuts for you and you get good clearance underneath.

However, if you're not so inclined to work on your car like this I get it. Different strokes …….!
P.S.: I have 2 of these floor jacks so I lift the entire back at the same time
