I think old Alex is one of those Ferrari guys that gives us a bad name. Act like a jerk and then bad mouth everybody else while claiming to be "special". Go find somewhere else to whine. Have fun with your "Fiat" engine.
Image Unavailable, Please Login I just noticed that it changed to a 456 engine instead of a 456M engine. The 456 engine actually does have an ODD firing order. Let's agree to call it uneven. Check this too.
Installing a 456 motor in a '63 Ferrari (I'll presume it's a 250GTE since so many are missing their drivetrains) is a heck of a complicated mechanical undertaking so I'm confused by the notion someone getting involved in such a project isn't completely aware of the mechanical operation of the donor engine.
Wow , ask a question and get an answer then you become a troll. Welcome to Fchat Alex you're making friends quickly. I believe a thank you would have sufficed. Best , Kirk.
His username references a '63 250, so perhaps you're not far off. I wonder if he's the buyer of this car: https://barnfinds.com/engine-delete-1963-ferrari-250-gte/
I thought I remembered a thread about this. There was a change in the firing order from the 456 to the 456M, so it does matter which engine the question is about. Image Unavailable, Please Login The above is from page four of this thread: https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/456-vs-550-engine.454282/ Read the whole thing, because it's quite confusing. The firing order was changed, and the cylinder numbers were changed! Taz even made a rare mistake.
Hey George, I am not too sure that the cylinder numbering changed on the eights and twelve, but I am wrong a lot. From what I remember all twelves are "1" and "12" upfront. The cylinders are numbered in a "horseshoe". Your 360 has "1" and "8" behind you and your 308 has "1" and "8" are facing the right. The only engines that are different are Dino sixes where "1" and "4" are upfront. Like a Ford or Honda. Somebody smarter than me please chime in on the cylinder numbering. The only change in numbering that involved the 456/456M was it was the last car that the designation was the cylinder displacement. Cheers, Marc
My neighbor Don has a 63' 250 GTE, he also has a GTL. He's a super great guy, begging him to come drive with me one of these days. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Today's installment of "Isn't that odd" is all about Lamborghini V10s (and Audi V10s too). Time to get even.............and odd.
