any ideas welcome ...when cold it cranks over as usual just will not start, I crank over 8-10 times turn the key off crank again 5-6 times turn the key off 3rd time will start on the 4-5 roll. when hot it will usually start on the 5-6 roll. this just started last week, before it would always start on the 2 or 3 rollover. I have reset the ECU and that helps on the first time but after it warms up it goes right back to hard to start.

Replace both fuel pressure regulators. ;);)

When a car sits, the fuel pressure regulators work as "one way valve" and hold pressure in the fuel rails so the injectors always have full fuel pressure there at all times to start the car. :):)

When the fuel pressure regulators are old/worn out, the rubber diaphram inside them tends to leak and you lose fuel pressure in the fuel rail. :):)

So you have to crank your car a few times to build fuel pressure back up in the fuel rail to start the car. :D:D

So replace both those FPR's (fuel pressure regulators) and that should fix your problem mate. :D:D

Its actually a pretty common issue on the 355. Actually................ a common issue on almost EVERY car in the world, especially over time.:eek:

My 1995 Spider has developed the same cold start issue described in this thread. As Ferrari apparently no longer makes these available, the only fuel pressure regulators I have found are $800-$1,000 each. Does anyone know of another fuel pressure regulator that will work for a reasonable price, or should I just install aftermarket adjustable regulators?

Why would you just replace them??? Would'nt you test the fuel pressure first?. Fuel, Spark and Air?? Firstly test/check fuel pressure. 2nd Put a timing light on the engine and crank it. It wont matter what lead you put it on to check you have spark, Check all leads. If you have no spark check relays and fuses then crank angle sensor. Not trying to disrespect anyone's suggestions but fuel regs for these cars are super expensive if you can get them. Why spend if you have'nt tested and checked first. What version 2.7 or 5.2?

Wow, them regulators have gone up in price. 9 years ago when this thread was originally asked, they were £80.
Superformance now sell them at £400.
