id avoid montana llc like the plague - 2 weeks ago there was an annual exotic gtf for a charity - there were agents taking pictures of cars with montana license plates - this even was held at a private residence and the agents were parked on the street outside the gates....

Yeah they are starting to crack down. I’m not advocating it- I’ve not done it for my own cars but I k ow some people are doing it.

Great feedback everyone thank you. I’m on the fence to jump in on an 18 488 spyder. Any updates on wholesale data is appreciated

I mean I don’t know your financial situation but I would personally wait until the f8’s were starting to be delivered before jumping into a 488. Without a doubt they will drop noticeably during that period so in terms of minimizing potential loss, to me that would be the safest bet. That being said if you don’t care much about anywhere from 10-40 grand worth of loss then just jump into it now, life is short.

40-60k lower than full msrp if you bought a new one right now I can see. But do you really think you can get a clean 2106 488 around 150k when F8 arrives???

Thanks and that’s my dilemma. Was planning to wait until next year for your reasoning. However local exotic resale dealer has a beautiful spec 18 Spyder with just 500 miles and super tempting to jump now. I’ll be trading a 13 Cali so I’m just looking at the depreciation delta between the two. So really 30k additional over Cali. Hmmmm
    Thinking drive now suffer later..
So hard to trade a Cali 30 for just 100.
It’s been a lot of fun but 488 another level

I’d like to add this to the life’s too short crowd:

When someone tells you: “You only live once!”-

    I politely correct them with:

“Actually, you only DIE once. But you get to live everyday...”

Do what you want responsibly WHEN you feel it’s right. Period. I end up reminding myself of that from time to time.

    Cheers friends!

I think originally I posted this in the wrong spot. I'm just seeking help...

I hate to join in and ask a question that has probably been asked....but I have reached a point in life where I'm I don't want to wait to buy any longer. At first, I wanted 458 because I was looking at the $$ depreciation curve...... but the more I looked...... the more I love the lines on the 488, and I had pretty much decided on wanting a GTB simply because I really love seeing the engine...
My question is buy 2016 at around 210-215 with over 12K miles or move up to 2018 with 5 K miles and pay in the 250-260 and get a unique color that catches my eye. The only potential downside of 2018 is I believe it has been in one of these cross country rallies. So much question is how much is it worth it to bump up to 2018 that will have maintenance until 2025 and warranty through 2023 with the 2-year extended option. HELP with some guidance, please...

The last question, given it is October, should I wait till early next year and hope the car I want is out there and wait to find it???

    THANKS,,,

I know I ask a lot of questions but I'm new, and I know more than anyone that no one is guaranteed tomorrow.

Is the 2018 you are talking about Grigio grey?

The longer you wait the lower the price but you deprive yourself of enjoying the ownership experience. With regards to waiting till early next year to find the car you want, I can pretty much guarantee you there will be cars for sale early next year. There is no shortage of 488s for sale and there is no impending end to the availability of cars. Cars are available now, and cars will be available early next year probably with a few more miles and a slight lower price.

My advice is to stop worry about price so much and get on that merry go round sooner rather than later.

No matter when you buy, the car is going to go down in price. Guaranteed. But it will have delivered plenty of joy for you to make it worth your while.

Interesting reading this from 18 months ago.
Prices are a little lower of course but holding a lot stronger than what most expected.

As a data point I was able to purchase a 2018 CPO 488 GTB from the San Fran Ferrari store. Listed for 245K and purchased for 226K with 2-year extended Ferrari warranty. Car has 8800 miles but I plan to use it for a daily driver so I didn't want to pay a premium for a lower mile car.
