Just arrived today from Florida. Going to install Recon bumpers and send it off to Vegas for a Gen V 6.2 LS swap next week Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Nice set up. Was thinking about the LS swap for my Unlimited Rubicon but after the release of info on the next Gen really leaning towards waiting till mid next year and ordering the Diesel. Thoughts?
I am more of an old-school Jeep guy (I don't own any Jeeps but I will someday), but this new one... I think they nailed it.
I'm really not a Chrysler fan. With the Motech LS swap you can roast 40" tires. I actually bought an NAS Defender for the swap, but sold It after realizing that they really are peices of crap, that offer nothing other than exclusivity.
. I crawled through a new JL at the LA auto show. Even though I am very happy with my '15 JK, I am definitely upgrading. I don't really need an LS in terms of the power, but I like the idea of the diesel. Will likely wait for it.
Scotty, I used to live in LA and IMO one of the very few advantages was the LA Auto Show. Good Stuff! I've been patiently waiting out all the rumors and it does look like that V6Eco Diesel will be available. 450ft lbs of tq in that plattform is what the Unlimited has been missing. Plus it looks like many additional upgrades but they keep the good stuff ie locking diffs, straight axles, removable top, offroad styling etc. Can't wait to send in my duckets.
SteveA. Agreed. Regarding the Rubi, they also raised the fenders, comes stock with 33's, has a winch ready bumper that you can remove the end-caps on, has 4 pre-wired aux switches (lights, etc.), plus less weight, improved suspension changes reducing head toss, bigger windows, and on and on. They really addressed a ton of stuff while improving stock rock crawling ability. And while there is a lot of complaining on the web, keyless entry, a heated steering wheel, a power hard top, getting rid of those damn soft top zippers is also totally compelling.
2018 SRT is my first Jeep. I used the launch control for the first time and it did 0-60 in 4.5 sec. I can't imagine what a Trackhawk would be like. Image Unavailable, Please Login
‘73 CJ5, 25K original miles, my dad bought it new. Plan to send it off in the next year to get full restoration. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

First couple modifications to the Wrangler up front, bumper and 12K synthetic rope winch. Hitch out back and looking at tires now. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I'm thinking just a 2" lift. keep going back and forth between 33" and 35" tall tires. Can't decide. I guess that means 34s might be perfect. Probably Nitto Ridge Grapplers due to great road manners for a sometimes off road vehicle. And it must be the Ferrari in me, but I probably need these wheels... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Those always had a classic look. The Nitto’s are a good choice. Good traction for the road manners. 2” is perfect with these unless you are hardcore off-road. I’d keep it around 33’s to start. And you may need to program the vehicle. I’ve had them go into limp mode for the trans with a gear swap or tire swap.

Was in another town yesterday and saw these two. Kicking it old school. Both still in Service. Beach taxis were banned years ago when some poor SOB had a little too much, fell asleep on the beach one night and got clobbered by a "taxi".
Has Jeep gone bonkers? In this TV commercial for the new Gladiator, it shows families tearing over sand dunes without the doors on the vehicle. I can't see where that makes sense. What happens if one family member hasn't done their seat belt right? At least if you have doors on the car you can count on that as a backstop! And whatever happened to the law about side door guard beams? If you remove the doors, you are removing safety equipment. I think they will sell these Gladiators to a lot of people who never will go off road but , at the risk of sounding like an old fuddy duddy, I think they are pushing this spirit-of-adventure thing too far...
Jeeps have been tearing up the trails for literally decades with no doors. I think Gladiator drivers/passengers will be just fine.
Imagine if this was a full body on frame Wrangler (i.e. no removable top). If they did offer, it would be my next vehicle. Image Unavailable, Please Login

If not for the beach…I would not have a Jeep.. I discovered some fantastic locations with my previous H1. That I could not be without.. nothing goes off road as easy as a Rubicon! This shot taken at " The Dunes of Amagansett " NY. My special Place! Image Unavailable, Please Login
