As part of this winter's work, I want to get the oil tank powder coated - anybody got any good tips on removal or is it as straight forward as it looks ?. ( this is a Ferrari of course it's not !!!!).

    Thanks

Buy all new seals and gaskets and washers when done and be carful to not strip any bolt holes.

Forget the gaskets until you get the dam thing out first :D
Take out the wheel fender liner to be able to get at the middle bolts that holds the tank. Of course when you have removed the hoses and disconnected the sender wire from under the tank. Be sure to use protective tape on everything around the tank including the subframe tubes and cam cover. Remember the tank has a peg at the bottom that sits in a rubber Bush. Good luck with trying to get that bugger out :D
You will see the reason why most re coat the tank while the engine out for a major. It's a bugger.

Be sure to have the correct wrenches for the oil lines. Depending on the last mechanic, they could be over tight and you do not want to rip/distort the aluminum.

Be patient trying to take the tank out with engine in the car.

Dont do it because you will go crazy and f it up. Do it when the engine is out. Why powder coat? Use black wrinkle paint like what's on there now or should be on there.

I concur it sounds like many of us you want to make it perfect so just go enjoy it until the service then like many of us spend a long time during the service on all the little things
