Someone broke my drivers door window frame. It's the only real join, the top back corner 90 degree corner where the frame is cut at an angle. Shown in the first picture. Anyone fixed one of these before? Also Im looking to replace the window channel, as it seems to be time. The usual suspects have it in stock, just wondering if anyone has found it available elsewhere in USA?

post more pics, im not understanding where you say its broken. the back 90 deg corners have a small tapered hex screw with a conical nut. the triangular window has a L bracket with flat head screws under the window channel

Also missing the hex screw. The window channels can get bad, and I mean really bad. This could make the window stick. So it is not only an electrical problem that makes them slow. Make sure your window slides easy in the channel when you put it together. Do not drop them! On my GT4 the channels were in terrible shape.

... and you can use some dry lube, like PTFE, in the channels..

No screws in the corners of my windows either. My profiles are nowhere near that bad, windows work great for years thanks to Birdman... I am looking for that window profile though, if anyone has a good source, I can't believe its Ferrari specific?

I want to pop in and say by my 1977s the screw and conical nut (WTF???) are definitely there, as mine was lost when loose, had to make it out of a pine tree....

But the earlier chrome GT4, if the machining is not there for the bolt at a 45 degree thru both parts, perhaps this was a wishful solder joint on the earlier frames??
As people yank the whole door closed by the rail (on GTBs) I can definitely see a weld "giving up"....

Dig into the Parts books as an inner clip of spring steel, with tangs to bite the mullions would work, but I zoomed in and see NO evidence of such an insert rusting away, to failure.

It would have left a mark

Agreed, no such markings. There is a sign of some sort of "solder" or "weld" on the cut surfaces but its not easy to see what it is or how they got it in there. See the attached photo, there is some uneven deposit there. Can you solder aluminium?

Yours are chromed, our later ones are black anodized, so any kind of heated joinery would mar the finish.

I guess that's a 1976 Italian version of JB Weld!

Now, easy enough, to say "use the screw kit", but if anyone kind find the countersunk metric bolt, hex socket IIRC together with the matching nut that is also countersunk it's shaped like a cone, well I need one to replace the bolt and nut I ground up to fit in there!!
    :D :D :D

I suppose I could take the other side apart for a picture, it's some weird stuff!!!

Anodized sir. not to difficult to make a conical nut. Double nut on the hex bolt and grind away

Really Big Tex?? What year was that? Not sure black was ever original. In fact fairly sure it wasn't.

Sorry I mean on MY car, not the GT4.

But the mullion rails are the same extrusion, what I was trying to express.

Yes, I used a hex nut and made it 'conical' with a grinder!
And anodized it with a black Sharpie...….
