308 QV what Gas to use? Should we use Ethanol Driers?

I've had no difficulty from using E10 in my 328 since I bought it in '08. Octane rating wise - 89 (US) though that is not commonly available so 91 more often. I use Stabil fuel stabilizer in the fuel when stored for long periods. It has been stored with E10/Stabil for as long as 7 months and, after reconnecting the battery, the starter spins/car starts as if it was running yesterday. I have found no reason at all to worry about ethanol up to the E10 level.

 

I use marine gas when it's convenient, otherwise E10. Techron every 6 months or so.

 

I'm not convinced ethanol is a concern as long as you are using your car regularly.

It's that letting it sit so long crap that lets that alcohol do its dirty tricks.

 

Been using regular, 87 octane US, E10 or otherwise since I bought my 85 308 QV. That's what the manual calls for. Worked just fine for 34 years and counting. Never had an issue with E10. Car sits unused at least 6 months a year.

 

Hate me if you must, but I use regular 87 Octane. I did a comparison running the car on different brands & octanes & found no significant difference in mpg between them.
Though as noted, it seemed to prefer Hess over other brands. I couldn't test Chevron (w Techron) as there isn't any near me. I've bid fare-the-well to Hess too

My car sits on a trickle charger from about November to March. (ish)

 

I haven't needed gas dryer additives in ANY of my cars since Ethanol began to be blended. When storing I do use StaBil.

 

I use the cheap stuff. I didn't afford a Ferrari by wasting money!

 

Gas dryers are generally ethanol. StaBil is mostly diesel fuel or heating oil.

 

8.8 : 1 compression - you could run it on mule piss. The standard cheap fuel in Oz is 91 RON. E10 boosts RON to 94, but there have been numerous posts on ethanol and seals, so for 2c per litre, I don't bother. I occasionally put a tank of 98 RON through it for the extra additives, but it's probably all BS, like climate change
