The Cards turned the Braves into chop suey.

Go Cards. Most runs in post game play in one inning in history.

Cards will have home field advantage vs the Nats and they won more games against them head to head during the season.

So the Braves were let down by their starting pitching and the Dodgers by their bullpen.....

Shaping up to be quite the post season w another game 5 today. Hard to believe astros will go down but after last night, who knows. I feel astros are best team of 21st century. Insane combo of pitching and hitting. Yankees have the bullpen and bench depth needed for 162 games but dont think it will help so much over 7. Mlb must be sweating over prospect rays v nats ws now that dream of nyy lad over

And have to feel for kershaw. He will probably never get to erase his post season reputation. Some guys just can't handle pressure.

true. remember Clemens had playoff trouble before coming to ny then did pretty well. bonds might've had 1 good series near end of career. but cant think of any playoff choker who really rebounded back.

True. When the regular season ended, many media types had already crowned the Dodgers as World Series Champions. Pressure indeed . . . .

OMG epic FAIL by the Dodgers. Relief pitching was their only weakness all year and it came back to bite them in the playoffs.

    Bye Bye Dave Roberts.

There's a clause in Greinkes contract that he cannot be traded to the new York market.

Wasn't it Ed Whitson who was the original poster boy for Big Apple aversion? As I recall, Yankees signed him to a huge free agent contract after he won Cy Young in San Diego. He had a hard time acclimating to NYC.

Problem: you have a lousy bullpen. Solution: have your starter pitch over 7 innings of one-hit ball!

The post season is filled with players who step up and others who cannot perform anywhere near their traditional regular season production.

For the former, I think in the postseason a lot of teams get into "we will not let player A or B beat us" & so then you need the Pat Borders, David Ecksteins and Craig Counsells to step up.

Agreed. At some point the guy who has produced all season will get a chance to bat. If the bases are loaded you will have to throw the ball over the plate. A player who produces will require protection in the lineup.

A team is playing with fire by consistently awarding first base, to a good player. You hope to make the other team pay a price, by walking someone three to four times a game.
