I've had my 1977 308 GTB (21833) since 1980. It was 3 years old when I bought it. I was removing the center console and found 2 "tokens" buried in there. They are for the Triborough Bridge in NYC valid from 1975 to 1980. The bridge tokens probably got there when the Blaupunkt Berlin gooseneck radio was installed? So...the original dealer was in the NYC area? I really want to know my car's history from 1977 to 1980 including who the original dealer was.

21833 was manufactured in June, 1977. Probably sold in the Fall of 1977.

    Luigi Chinetti Motors?
    Miller Motorcars?
    Algar Ferrari?
    Chinetti Garthwaite?

Are these all the dealers that were in the NYC area in late 1977? Any help or suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Check the dealers directory 1977 (Factory print #140/77) and 1978 (Factory print #151/78) that is supposed to be in your pouch (Sales & Service Organisation booklets).

    Marcel,

I purchased my used 1977 Ferrari in 1980 from the Sports Car Exchange in Dearborn, Michigan. I was given an owner's manual and no other "booklets". This Ferrari dealer was not forthcoming with me. Dishonest in my opinion and soon went out of business. The current Michigan dealer (Cauley) is wonderful.

Again...in late 1977, what Ferrari dealers existed within a 75 mile radius of NY Central Park?

That's my bottom line question. Thanks!

1977 (Factory print #140/77) and 1978 (Factory print #151/78) apparently lists all of the Ferrari dealers in 1977 and 1978?

Probably only 20 dealers in the U.S. at that time. How do I obtain this information? That's really what I need.

You could find a copy of the most appropriate book (probably 140/77) which would both give you the information and add to your car's overall completeness - there are internet vendors and for that matter I think a friend might have a spare to sell

I'm not sure if you meant to come across this way but that's a little bit disrespectful especially when asking people to help you.

Especially when you consider who Marcel is in this community.

Was Miller the successor / purchaser of Chinetti? I seem to remember hearing that at some point, but can't recall where or if it's accurate.

I would like to thank everyone, especially Marcel, for the New York dealership information that was provided. Those 4 NY dealers, and quite possibly Chinetti in Greenwich, CT are the logical dealers that sold my new 308 GTB back in 1977. I will dig deeper. Thanks so much.

I was born in the 1940's and am very new to this site. I did not realize that using bold print is considered disrespectful. I was simply trying to make my question stand out in my lengthy note. I learned something...I apologize...and it won't happen again. Sorry.

Q1. Has anyone used "Ferrari Customer Care"? Would they be able to dig up information from 1977 on which of the 5 dealerships sold my car?

Q2. From Factory Print #140/77, can someone tell me who was the Michigan dealer in 1977? And their Michigan address?

Thanks in advance guys. You're great.

Miller purchased Bob Sharp Ferrari in Danbury, CT. in the mid 1980s when I was also working for Miller. Later moved the dealership to Greenwich.

Bob Sharp the racer? Didn't realize he had a Ferrari dealership at one point- interesting!

So was Miller in fact the successor / purchaser of Chinetti? Still unclear to me.

    Thanks!

    Yes Bob Sharp the racer.

Miller did not purchase Chinetti. They were done by the time Miller purchased Bob Sharp's Franchise.

Threads like these on Fchat make it unique. This reads like a literary short story. Every character who has posted here sounds interesting, regardless of Ferraris (apart from me). The stories that could be told.
