Sand off the Ferrari scripts on that black valve cover... sexy look. Uhmmm.
There was a GT4 in Monterey last week. It was a road-rally built car. That looked nice enough for me to miss my GT4. And then there were Daytona, Dino 264, 512BBi, FXX, F40, F50, and those were just some of the Ferraris.

    Check out the F40 spoiler.

Actually white with Boxer trim would look very nice with that tan interior, IMO

But one of my GTBs was the blue you selected.
    All good there too.

Definitely go back with Dino badging.

Coin toss on the dog dish Dino hubcap wheels, or the more modern look of 14" 5 stars.
    BTW I have a set, of those.…...

OK, car is finally at the painter. Had it transported to my house for some cleanup, and as the car was on it way here, the painter called and said he was ready! Couple days cleanup (32 years of dust) and off it went to McClusky's. Next door to, really. The painter also does theirs. Carlos says 2 months for the Blu Dino Metallizato, so I figure at least three. No rust to be repaired, no real bodywork, just maybe some skimcoat here and there to clean up the file marks where the PO replaced the bondo in panel joints with lead.
Sent the brake calipers for rebuild. Gotta decide on a color. Probably black, but hard to resist the flash of yellow.

I can't speak with certainty on the GT4, but on the GTB the rear sail panels DONT bond to the quarter panel, it's a seam seal of sealant.
I hope that's not where the lead work occurred!!!

    Random thought.....

    Yep, gonna be yellow calipers.
Resisting the temptation to go see the progress. He'll probably ask for money.

Any way to do Euro bumpers on the car? They look SO much better...IMO. Neat cars the GT4.

Possible but not cheap. US bumpers can be pushed in so not so noticeable but never as pretty as the Euro cars.

Yep, gonna push them in. Wish somebody was making Euro replicas in fiberglass or something.

Think they do make Euro replicas. Sold mine some years back. Look at Superformance or post in the Europe section to find out where

Have thought about making fiberglass replicas of the US bumpers that could be shaved down to the minimum protrusion that would save some weight and look tidier.

Paint soon. I'm surprised how much needed to be done to make the body waveless, especially since no damage or rust. The guy's a perfectionist. He even asked me if I wanted the hammer marks on the inside of the folds around the edges of the hood and trunk lid removed. I left them. Looking good. While it is all apart make sure they spray some rust eating primer on the inside of the body panels as they are bare from the factory. If you look on the underside of the front nose panel it is likely bare metal. Spraying down with phosphoric acid first will neutralize any surface rust. Also make sure they thoroughly remove the body under seal around the wheel arches where there is a double skin of metal. Cracks in the under seal can let moisture in and rust will develop. If I had the option I would have taken these areas back to bare metal before priming and coating again along with the outer areas of the rear trunk.

"The Dino badge on the front hood actually sits in a shallow relief in the metal so unless the indentation is there on your hood and has just been filled with bondo going back to Dino badges may be more money than its worth."

Trending...it's a 1975...consider returning to the original Dino nose badge. :)

I did a bumper tuck by modifying Fiat spider bumper struts. Have oem bumper struts boxed for reconversion. Also have adjustable coil overs, so I was able to adjust to a better ride height.

Loved the post .... yes there is the purist side of things and maintenance of historical accuracy, but when we have moved technology to improve and go past the limitations of history - should we not avail??. I get the philosophical conundrum created by leaving seats and engine parts original, but we are talking about a machine with parts that are going to wear.... we're not talking about a moustache on the Mona Lisa.... its something that was in the realm of the Ferrari imagination at the time. ---- right?.

Saw it in primer. Primer is blue! That way, rock chips etc won't show up. Learn something new every day..... Block and sand, then color. So, still two weeks away, but a shorter two weeks than last time!
