JUST DID IT LASt WEEK!!!!!!! AWESOME! People are telling me it sounds amazing instead of that FLAT no balls exhaust!
Mine is a 2010 and no ECU update, enjoying all the burbles, crackles and pops from the exhaust! Love it!
Best part of owning a 2010 458 over any other year.... mine has them and I wouldn't want it any other way.
So having just recieved a 2012 Rosso Dino Spider with the for lack of a better term "captains call" valve exhaust remote I noticed it cracked, popped, gurgled etc. Did this ecu thing carry over to the 2012 Spider? Sure sounds like it did to me. Sounds almost as good as the practically non muffler 348C. Image Unavailable, Please Login
So I asked this in my intro thread but this is probably a better place for my question as I try to figure out what I've inherited from the previous owner. I have a 15 that supposedly shouldn't have the crackles and burbles, and yet I haz some crackles and burbles ... First of all is that what you guys are referring to or is it more pronounced in the earlier 458s? Let me know if you need a different video in higher rpms. Second, if it is what you guys are referring to, how come I have them on my car? I should note that I get no difference in exhaust volume or note no matter which drive setting I am in, so my guess is that the previous owner has at the very least pinned the valves open. Would that account for it or do you guys think my car has an aftermarket exhaust to produce those heavenly sounds? Or are mine the perfectly normal sounds of a stock 2015 458 exhaust? Thanks
My 2013 coupe didn’t have any, less than your 15. My 15 spider had significantly more than your 15, was ver close to a orig ‘10 ecu that I’ve driven. No idea why.
I think now you can have a louder sound with orginal exhaust and ECU How to TRANSFORM your Ferrari 458's EXHAUST SOUND for $400!
Sorry a newbie here. If a post 2012 model get after market exhausts will it have crackles and burbles? Or was that only specific on 2010 and 2011?
A 2012 never had it. And it will be very hard to find a 2010 or 2011 car without the firmware update. If you don't mind not having the power warranty, a company like Mase Engineering can give you an ECU tune with it. Decatting will help too, but it is not there in 2012 cars and up.
My guess is that car was probably one of the last to get it seeing that it was built in Dec 2011. My statement refers to cars built in 2012. It changed about the same time as the 458 Spider launched. Generally speaking, I don't think it's wrong to say that it is something that was predominately found in 2010 and 2011 built cars, more than 2012 cars. Of course the M/Y changes in week 23 I believe, if not 27, so by that measure of course it can be found in a M/Y 2012 car. All that aside, I think it will be damn near impossible to find a car that has not been updated at this time.
I’ve had four 458 variants. To my utter surprise, the 2015 spider arrived with pops and crackles similar to Carlo’s (OP this thread, a car I’ve driven also). Stock exhaust.
I just got my 2011 458 and it pops and gurgles a lot. Is there any way for me to tell if the ECU has been flashed?
I have a 2012 and it cracks like crazy when I back off the throttle, sounds like a machine gun, can’t imagine what the other ones sound like.
I have a 2011, never been updated (original firmware), crackles, pops, burbles..... Pure orgasmic sound.
I am thinking you are correct. Just picked up my ‘12 Spider; it will accompany my ‘20 Superfast. It backfired the first time, and I thought my wife was going to have a heart attack. Yes, it backfires and burbles. Wonderfully.
I have a 2010 with the crackle and pops. What I involved in keeping the valve open? How do you do that? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
