It's ironic that before the season, the Nationals were odds-on favorites to win the NL East and were second choice to the Dodgers to win the NL. Then they got off to a horrible start and were a non-factor in the division race for most of the season. Truthfully, they did wake up in September and closed to within 4 games of Atlanta. And here they are in the series, anyway!

Yanks one or two more than I recalled, Cards one or two less.
Mets have 2 WS championships - 1969 & 1986 - easy to recall given the low number! :(

The rain delay has introduced some interesting S.P. possibilities with the remaining ALCS.

Suppose it goes a full seven games. What does that do to the bullpen. Try pitching four games one after another. Starters can also be re-arranged. The mgr can also purposely change a starter at the last minute.

i cannot stand gary sanchez. the yankee brass seems to love him but fans absolutely do not. he is a 230 hitter who can hits lots of meaningless homers off weak pitchers. and thats the only trick he has. he has zero intangibles. hes bad catcher, doesnt hustle, and is hurt all the time. its ok to keep him on his rookie deal but they better not sign him to a big contract.
aaron hicks is similar but his trick is he can walk a lot even off good pitchers. at least he is a good fielder and runner. whoopded doo. yankees seem to think hes bernie williams who was an amazing hitter and didnt get hurt. a ferrari to a fiat and now theyre stuck w him for long term.
    astros are just better

To face Verlander then Cole, Yankees are pretty much done. I gotta give them a lot credit. This season had it's struggles, but it just seems like their time has come. It was a GREAT run. Sorry Yanks, I love ya but it is what it is. The Astros are GOOD! I was afraid of this, but mentally prepared myself about a month ago.

These teams are very evenly matched. What's been funny to me is the Yanks bats were hot going into the series. Ours were dead. First game yall were still hot, and then they decided to join the Astros. lol.

Now the Astros are slowly batting better, but no where near how efficient they were during the season. And after the Yankee errors in game 3, I was expecting that to be completely cleaned up in Game 4 and when those 2 or 3 errors happened last night within plays of each other really really shocked me. But the Astros haven't played error free either, just cleaner.

610 had Shaun Morash on the last two days to discuss the game from one of the NY stations. I really enjoy that guy. I never thought I'd hear the day that Yankee fans have put the Stros in the realm with Boston for hatred. Feels pretty good. :D

Sorry to see CC go out like that. That really sucked.

Very even matchup! Cannot get off the Yankee band wagon yet. It would not be the 1st time, this season, they threw the switch and took 3 of 3. I won't bet my house on it though. On another note: I cannot stay up late enough to catch the end of these games! Bad move, MLB; you need our kids watching, and it's way too late for them! Hay, maybe that pitch clock is a good idea???

Couldnt have had worse start for nyy with continued sloppy play. Just love gary sanchez! Really thought it was all over. But Aaron hicks of all people saved the day. Think he read my earlier post and got motivated? Lol. Not unusual for him to work 10 pitch at bats and then jerk one out. I could like him if he would just stay healthy for once. Sanchez cannot get big contract though. I don't care if he hits 8 homers in houston. Hes not a winning player. Lets go yankees!

Looks to me like the winner of the AL Pennant (NYY or HOU) will beat WAS. And AL will have home field advantage.

With baseball you never know. If a pitching staff is on their game, it will be tuff to beat. The Nats were not supposed to make it anywhere this deep into the season.
