Pullled from my archives and "Road & Track on Ferrari 1975-1981" The GTB photographed at Fiorano is obviously Euro. The visibility on my Vitaloni is horrible at best; nothing beats looking over your shoulder. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi all, This week I had the opportunity to seat on a early european GTB with Californias. And indeed you can see well enough, basically those mirrors in european position WORK as intended. Thats not the case at all in the USA position. In my opinion its hard to believe the US cars passed any safe and safety test with the Californias, of course they look nicer but they are useless. Now, only God knows why the hell they moved the position backwards for US. I am still want to know the story behind! Wish you all nice weekend Julio
I put the Vitaloni QV/Boxer style mirrors on my '79 GTB (it originally had a drivers side California) and positioned them as on the QV. But to me they still need to be further forward. Right now they work OK but could be better. I used the original mounting hole on the drivers side but had to guesstimate on the PAX side. Image Unavailable, Please Login
The Baby Turbos are adjustable in several planes, with a ball shaped base mounting. The axial nature of the California just gives it an "up and down".... I run the Baby Turbos and they did come on the car...as it came to me.
When I purchased my carb car it had the Baby Turbos. Probably some pre owner installed them for their better vision. Here is a comparison between my Euro carb car with Baby Turbos and a friend's carb Euro GTS with the Vitalonis. Meanwhile I have replaced the Baby Turbos with Vitalonis because of the looks. But vision is much worse, although they are installed further forwards than the US position. Image Unavailable, Please Login Best from Germany Martin
when I got my GTB drysump, it had two 328 mirrors fitted. I replaced them with the correct single Vitaloni Californian, and the then I realized why the previous owner did that change… ciao
Of course I should have said 'Californias vs. Baby Turbos', since both are Vitalonis. Sorry for the stupidity Best from Germany Martin
