Absolutely. Every car, not just F cars, can break down, and there’s no easy fixes or cheap fixes in anything these days. I had a BMW X5 tranny go and they wanted £8000 to swap it ($11000)! Crazy Forza Ferrari..... the only racing team and car marque that matters. Italia forever It’s easier to apologise than it is to ask permission
I got the extended warranty also. Pics from Avila Beach and 95 degrees today Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk
Not an F-car owner, but always enjoyed Clyde's posts on the Ferrarilist. Great to see him here! Betting the reason his F-cars have been so reliable is because he DRIVES them.
I put over 5K miles on my 360 sunroof/stick during a fourteen day vacation, nine days of which were driving, just this month. Previously I put over 4K miles on my 456M in a similar vacation to the west, and about that to go east and do the Blue Ridge Parkway. Owning the cars is great, but creating memories with them is even better. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Never had a breakdown in four Ferrari vacations.
Hooray for this thread! I bought my 328 GTB with but 21,000 miles on it, at age 71, it now has more than 60K on it. This was taken in New Mexico in 2016. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Nice pics. A Ferrari with a sunroof, that's got to be rarer than hens teeth! Is the 456 pic at the VLA observatory in New Mexico? T
Indeed, that is where he is. A short ride south on I-25 from Albuquerque to Socorro. As I work on my 360 to improve reliability and fix, cough, cough, ignored maintenance and some repairs that were inexplicably done wrong, I was not going to be denied using the vehicle this summer. To pay for insurance and have the car stuck in the garage is stupid. I have been driving around town for the last three months with the door cards removed as I sought to diagnose a peculiarity in the door locks. Finally discovered that someone had bent one of the connecting rods inside the door. A new part is on the way. So, the interior looks incomplete, almost strange, if anyone peeks inside. It makes no difference to me. Even though I have to open the driver's door using the outside handle, I was not to be denied. Since getting rid of the immobilizer using the work of Trev360, firing up the Silver Bullet is more enjoyable than ever. So, a tip of the hat to the OP. He has the right idea of how to enjoy these vehicles.
If I owned an Enzo or F50, I am not driving anyone of them more than around the block. Maintained, yes, but certain Ferraris are investments and I wouldn't run the risk of getting damage. Just because a car isn't redlined doesn't mean it's not well maintained.
I agree 100% with Clyde. The more you drive 'em, the more reliable they are. 66,600 on my '94 512TR. It has never left me stranded. The more you drive, the more you become intimate with her moans and movements and the earlier you know when something is just not right. Imagine the tens of thousands of hours that are spent making these beasts into amazing driving experiences, and then people basically park them and wait for seals to fail. If you want art, buy art. These are CARS and they are meant to be driven. There is a YouTube video about pro golfer Ian Poulter's Ferrari collection. He has TWO La Ferrari's and a dozen other incredible cavallinos and throughout the interview he remarks "but I don't drive that one" or "that one has only 500 miles on it". All the while I'm thinking "What a waste". Hey, to each his own, I can't control other people. My car has paint chips. A rock once cracked the windshield. The driver's side seat belt mouse doesn't work. But I still drive it. Have I hurt the resale value? Most assuredly yes, but I didn't buy it to re-sell it. I bought it for the privilege of saying I own a Ferrari, the unbelievable joy of driving a Ferrari and for the fellowship of fellow F-car owners around the world. These cars get you admission to a very exclusive club. Enjoy your time on this earth. Drive 'em like you stole 'em!
If you own La Ferraris, F50s, and such, most of the time you don't have time to drive all of your cars. This is the mentality that got them these cars, and this is what makes them keep them, but I wouldnt doubt that there are people that have these cars that drive them all the time, and of course I'm not against anyone driving their rare limited edition cars.
100% with Clyde. I'll just add that if you don't drive it often then you'll never know if that "odd" sound was normal/minor/catastrophic, sort of like, to paraphrase Clyde... NOT there! exit only LOL
Right on DOC I too have paint chips and a combat repaired wind shield Scars are tattoos with better stories I say But I like you bought the car to drive Not wash and wax My 512 TR has never left me anywhere And you are spot on The more you drive it The more you know what’s going on in your car Take care Boss Good luck with the service Highly advise you get the radiators we spoke of Until then
Hey, I'm not knocking people driving their limited edition cars. I'm just saying in my case, I wouldn't be. And the irony is that many of the people that buy these cars, don't drive them because they don't have the time.
A few years ago I bought a very special 612Scag OTO, HGT2 and love it! The best road car I have ever driven. It was expensive and I worried about parking it most anywhere. So, earlier this year I bought a 2004 575M with 11K miles to use as a daily driver and use the 612 for special days or events. They are “just cars” after all”.
Thank u thank u thank u, finally somebody after my own heart.i fit most all profiles in these posts and now I know I’m not alone. I love driving, detailing, admiring the work of art this vehicle is,& learning more about them every day.CHEERS
Supermodel Girlfriend No, no, no playa... You act like we're trying to lose money over here. They're straight up liabilities. She's for one night... Buy her a pair of designer shoes, purse etc. make her sign an NDA. Smash and be out of there like a phantom.
I've had everything on your list happen to me in the first year I owned my 360. Granted, it was far from a good example.
Hey We are out here driving the cars That’s what we bought them for Right? Thanks for the kind words Need to hear from some more drivers out there
