Oh really who'd a thought...what could possibly go wrong there. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2019-10-24/two-workers-safe-injecting-room-arrested-alleged-drug-traffiking/11636758
Whaaat!!! Am I reading this wrong, you aren't allowed to use the currency of the country to buy something that costs over $10K???? https://www.abc.net.au/news/2019-10-25/cash-ban-law-under-inqury-post-mp-concerns-on-freedom-breach/11640124
Not in cash. I havnt read the article, but I know about what is being proposed. They want it to become a criminal offence to buy ANYTHING over 10k in CASH. I’m going to buy a red star and put it on my cap. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Doesn't have to be a car sunshine. You're not allowed to pay over $10k in cash for anything....big brother!
I’m not necessarily saying I support the proposal, but seriously, who apart from the Tony Sopranos of the world walks around buying things with more than $10k in cash? If it stops dodgy bastards from avoiding tax that the rest of us have to pay, well....
The guy that bought my QV turned up with 3 envelopes with wads of $100 notes .... he knew he would be late for the banks when he flew up to pay for it so was just WALKING around with a huge amount of cash in his pockets ..... I don't trust human nature and would have waited until Monday to go to the bank or just done a cash transfer
Up here, one of my mechanics,a mob of farmers I know.....some with Italian heritage,my mate Sid who owns the secondhand shop,a few others I can't finger...er put my finger on..
Ok.... I heard about a bloke who travelled to Germany with over $1m in a brief case to buy a car! (in cash)
I don't think buying a car with a million dollars is money laundering ...... more like "what am I thinking .... or NOT thinking"
And that would remain perfectly legal under the proposal. I too have had a couple of cars bought from me with cash for between $20-25k. Both times people of Asian heritage. That sort of thing would still be fine as it’s a private person to private person transaction.
Not every case is money laundering but I bet this is the main aim. Incidentally could scoop up all the Mainland property buyers who’s home paperwork shows no more than $50k leaving the home country each year...
