Yet, another GP Ferrari lost, and Mercedes inherited. Ferrari strategy was useless once more; they should have won that race. Kudos to Hamilton, he is often there to pick up the pieces and turn his rivals' mistakes in his advantage. The last few laps on worn tyres resisting Vettel's attacks were a good piece of driving. As for Verstappen, had he kept his mouth shut after qualis, the stewards would never have investigated him for ignoring the yellow flags. Instead, he went to bragg about it live, like the cocky little brat he is. His grid penalty decided his fate; a ectic start, then puncture, etc ... all that from a potential winner !
Vettel squeezed Ham off on the start straight. Shortly afterwards, Ham got sideways and wound up going off track, taking Max with him, which hurt Max a lot more than it hurt Ham. Much later, Max tangled with another car (a McLaren, I think), and that cut Max's tire.
As I remember it, Max hit lewis's rear tire going into turn 1, turning Lewis causing him to go off track through 2. I could be wrong.
They should've been watching the telemetry like everyone else including the commentators. Daniel was managing the entire race, Mercedes kept relaying that to Lewis, yet Ferrari never seemed to acknowledge it themselves to Seb. 2-Stop strategy didn't work. I wonder if that was Charles' strategy b/c if it was a team decision, I would've expected them to try it with Vettel.
Presented for your consideration, the Mexican Gran Prix, just in case you needed proof that Mercedes are smarter than Ferrari.
I just reviewed the (standard def) DVR recording, and it does look like Max lost his rear a little, which pushed Ham onto the paint, which caused Ham to lose his rear a lot. So it does seem to have been a bit of both getting loose when side-by-side. But if there was any contact, it was Max's left rear to Ham's right side pod, not to Ham's rear tire.
To be honest we have to say our car is better on one lap and not far off during race trim. Mercedes is bulletproof and i have big hopes with the pirellis 2020. We are just lacking some race pace to give us more tactical freedom and less pressure.
So Lewis needs to score 14 points to win the championship. Assuming Bottas wins and gets fastest lap.
What do you mean "wishing Hamilton to a win"?? If anything, they were perplexed as to why Vettel hadn't made a move to pass.
What? Look, I was listening to the commentary throughout the race. They fully expected Vettel to make ground on Hamilton because of Ham's older tires. What were you listening to?
Again, you are entitled to your opinion. What is a Fact is that the Mercedes has and is the fastest car on track. That MB plays around to give the impression that they are slower in order to avoid further inquires as to their uber-dominance IS a Fact!
This race isn’t even worth the effort to comment on That’s about how much effort Ferrari put in it. They should just airmail Hamilton’s trophies and not bother.
If Lewis simply scores a total of FOUR POINTS over the remaining next three races, then he'll be WDC even if Bottas wins all of the remaining races AND garners fastest racing lap in each one, etc.
How long before conspiracy theorist say that Vettel is purposely not winning in order to curry favor with MB in order to jump ship at the end of the season; even if it means paying Bottas the penalty for early termination of the contract? COULD happen!
