Hello Maybe someone knows what this brutal Noise in my F430 means? https://www.dropbox.com/s/end4dg7ds8au3r4/IMG_0095.m4v?dl=0
Does it get louder and/or faster with revs? Don't rev the engine hard and don't even leave it running too much but when I say rev I mean try 2000 rpm.
sounds valvetrain related to me. seems louder topside. what's your oil level currently? probably worthwhile to drain and inspect. sjd
Hard to tell based on that video clip. Need to raise the engine cover and record from there? Sounds like a couple cylinders aren't firing though, which could be a simple fix (plugs or coils) or a serious problem (bad deals or cracked cylinder). I agree.with another respondent in that you need to give it a little gas ad well, to see if it goes away.
Sounds like you're on 4 cylinders only. Turn off the battery, wait overnight and try again later. That's how mine sounded one time last year, I reset it and it never happened again. No code was thrown. Also as someone else suggested earlier ensure your oil level is correct P.S. You MUST follow the reset procedure as well
It sounds like a broken/leaking exhaust header to me. The reason it sounds like it is firing unevenly is that only one or two of the primary pipes inside the header before the collector are leaking badly. You can take a mechanics stethoscope, remove the stethoscope part from the tube that leads to the hoses going to your ears and insert a long metal pipe that you can bend (I use a 3/16" piece of brake tubing) into the hose. The with the engine running use the pipe to listen around and under the exhaust header near the ports on the cylinder head. You will feel/hear a loud pulsing of the exhaust leaking out at the break in the header. Brian Brown San Francisco Motorsports
It doesn't sound like a terminal internal engine sound but something is definately flapping in the breeze. I'd check the front belt first to see if something there has failed. Or as others have said maybe a header is banging around. Something is hitting though and telling you about it.
Th That is exhaust by the sound of it.- jack it up and take the bottom cover off. Check to see if the sensors are still screwed in the exhaust. Dont think it is valve train as too inconsistant
I sounds like American muscle car... So maybe indeed it has to do with firing order, I mean it works on 4 cylinders only on one bank... Just guessing...
Get a few sheets of loo paper on the end of a thin long stick and put it next to the bits of the exhaust you can get to, if exhaust it will blow it about. Used to find steam leaks using rags on broom handles on the turbine ships in the old days
HI and thank you everyone for your response. Because of corona I could not check the problem till now, but I will I n the next weeks. i will keep you updated.
Would maybe a simple pulling of each spark plug wire to check for spark be in order? May be a simple way to rule out any ignition or fuel issues-- If you confirm there's no misfiring then on to the header tests as others here have suggested. Just my .02
