my 66K mi. M has developed a significant battery drain overnight the voltage reads 11.4 at the engine starter terminal the battery is new interstate any suggestions where i should look first ? thanks in advance......... john s
The only thing that comes to mind is that your alternator has gone bad and one of the electronic internals...rectifier? is passing through the current...something like that. I had that happen on a 308 gtsi I owned a gazillion years ago. A rebuild of the alternator solved the problem. Shamile Freeze....Miami Vice! Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
Put an amp meter between the battery and the car and start pulling fuses until draw goes down to normal (25mA or so). That will narrow it down quickly. As I recall ignition, the Motronic boxes and starting/charging systems are the only unfused systems. The most common culprits are non factory installations, radio, phone, alarm.
Daymn...that's a good trouble shooting method...I like that! Shamile Freeze....Miami Vice! Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
Agreed -my alarm used to drain the battery pretty bad, also a non functioning radar which I got rid of. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Watch a new video from Scotty Kilmer on YouTube....he goes over how to do this. It’s a good skill to learn and use. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
