I planned to do shift shaft seals this winter but now I think about taking apart the clutch and check for wear, leaks etc.

Why would I take apart something that works?

I have only drained the oils, so far ...

I wouldn't, and don't. Especially something like the clutch, it's just a lot of work to go exploring and possibly find nothing.

If you're having no issues, drive the car more for enjoyment rather than take it apart due to excitement/boredom.

Especially because a worn clutch is nothing, what leaves you stranded all in a sudden.
If you are bored, check your fuel lines :)

Right, agree! I will try to stay away from the clutch job.

I can't help but taking things apart is a lot of fun ...

It depends on what you know of your car's history & what mileage is on it. I replaced my clutch at about 35K miles (bought it at 20K). I know I am very light on clutches but also (as the 10th owner) had no idea about how those that had preceded me had used it. I was doing a lot of other work which made it easier to justify going in there - but it was a good thing I did - it was almost down to the rivets & flywheels are expensive!

Check your clutch cable for frayed wires. That will leave you beside the road. A bad clutch will give you plenty of warning.
