Tissues an honest to goodness "hot dish" as they say in Minnesota. Next time, less veggies and replace with frozen tater tots! Thank me later.

I enjoyed it. Black’s is better. But less smoke-y which I prefer. As I get older can’t seem to digest it and burp up smoke for hours......

I dont know how our local (burbs of Los Angeles) Popeye's stays in business. Been open for 3 years now, and never a line or cars. We tried it twice, was terrible and has that reputation here. Maybe they are serving us slop, or we are just F*ed up with our tofu and avocado preferences.

When in Lockhart, I always hit all 3...it’s not often you can get BBQ from 3 legit places so easily to compare. I’ve enjoyed them all, if I had to pick a fav it would be smittys (if for no other reason than the wait in the swelteringly hot and smokey pit room).

So, if you have a hankering for fried chicken in LA, where do you go? I used to live in Memphis, and there were any number of small joints that served up great fried chicken when I got that once per annum itch. Now, it's either Popeyes or a task looong trip to Boyce, LA...T

I took my mom shopping in the states. Its the closest Safeway now. Our local Safeway was closed and being converted into something called Freshco. Since Popeyes is next door, grabbed a spicy chicken sandwich around 3pm. The sandwich is o.k., wouldn't be worth lining up for. Stopped at Costco got a Kirkland pesto sauce, I'll make that if I get hungry.

Yeah, bread dilutes the fried chicken experience! If I want a spicy chicken sandwich, it's Chick Fil A. Got a coupon in the mail a month or two ago for Wendy's. Got their chicken sandwich; I was nauseous later on.

Catching up. Prime rib eye steaks. Eye portion. From Costco. Only Himalayan pink salt on top. I did them in a pan, 2' 15" per side, then finished in a 425 F oven until 135 F internal. Was low 140s by the time it finished resting. Wife raved about them, which means they were overdone.

Nice. My only issue with going to oven after is they lose the crust often.
