I am very interested in the 812 vs. F8 comparison.
Anxiously awaiting the sound comments both from inside and outside!!
I am trying to attend one of the Florida events this month and will report my opinions. It looks like we are going to get various USA opinions.

 

Drove the newly arrived 2020 812 tester at Algar. That engine! Inside and out, the notes covered a wide sonic range and were just glorious. Loud and agitated startup, then settled to tame and subdued from idle up to 2000 RPM. Then, all hell. Will drive the 2020 F8 tester next Saturday.

 

LOL I was impressed with how fast Ms. Espenshade drove the car especially the first left handed she took quite fast on cold tires. I was able to hammer on it pretty good and she loved it.

 

Sig isn't afraid to drive fast! LOL

 

So I guess the bottom line, after 114 pages, is the F8 is fast as sh*t but it sounds like sh@t Time to close the the thread?

I'm a 458 owner. I agree the F8 should have been the original 488 in looks. F8 is a great looking car (although I don't like the side scoops on either model - too rounded and odd looking). I saw a Pista in the NYC showroom (which was recently remodeled BTW) and it looks great but too busy for me. I've always appreciated the cleaner lines of the 458, 355, 328, 512 TR, etc. Ferrari has lost its way in design after the 458. Everyone has different likes of course, but my first test is that the look has to move me first. Can't be too mechanical (like the new SF90 side look with hump like rear side and ugly scoops). I'm a purist. I want Pininfarina back designing everything. Then comes the sound next (naturally aspirated is just fantastic), and then handling/acceleration and then speed. Unless you're driving it on a track, the top end is just not important. I appreciate the quickness of the F8, but I won't upgrade to it unless the look and sound are the same. I may not be buying a new model every again. Only thing that may push me in that direction of turbo is if next design is truly innovative and beautiful, they get rid of ugly side scoops, and the doors go up like the La Ferrari. Oh, and a full digital screen like Lambos (and new SF90). But the look has to be killer awesome like the 458 or La Ferrari.

 

Sounds like you will not be buying a new Ferrari anytime soon or later.

Personally the 458 has no appeal to me, the look is dated and the performance is lacking. I get it, folks like the car..just not for me. I’ll take the F8 all day long and deal with the sound if I find it lacking after owning and driving it for a while.

 

Super rich friend says: im giving my cars away.. choose between the 458 and the F8. what now?

 

F8 any day of the week and twice on Sunday’s.

 

Ask for the LaFerrari instead?
