Would the insurance costs be multiples of what it costs to transport and show the original race cars at concours around the world?

The No. 18 365 P2 0838 White Elephant representation is awful. Is the engine in the front?

Clearly they've used very poor 1967 330 P4 replicas when 1966 330 P3 representations should have been made.

Same n°18 is in post #10874, a replica GTO. Far too much fantasy in that movie. Personally I've seen enough and won't go. Steve McQueen's "Le Mans" was the best. Here what's left of that poor Maranello Concessionaires "GTB/C".

What a total b.s., and somebody is actually paying money for this nonsense?
Please, let's go back to "More Old Photos". Thanks.

  9. I hear you but, it' a movie for entertainment. I don't think it was planned as a documentary for the Smithsonian.... :) ('Haven't seen it yet myself)

A front engined poor GTO replica for a mid engined prototype.

The number 29 Maranello Concessionaires 275 GTB/C 09035 did not crash and came 8th OA and 1st IC (GT +3.0) at LM '66 so the history is wrong as well as the cars.

Because of the vintage racing events, many of the period F1 cars are highly maintained, and race ready. With capable owner/drivers, smart enough not to turn over their cars to some idiot Hollyweird "stunt" drivers. This made it a lot easier for the "Rush" producer/directors.

Ferrari wasn't big on nostalgia. A lot of the old race cars were destroyed. Too bad.

I am very well aware of this, and my friends M23 wasn't going to be turned over to any of the stunt drivers. We know those guys are not racers. Also had family in the film industry for many years. We all know that Hollywood needs to please the masses & make $, and doesn't really care about historical accuracy, etc, etc.

When that Fuller Brush catalogue showed up at our house in late ‘58/early ‘59, it changed my life forever. Up until then, I had only heard of Ferrari and Phil Hill. I have been a tifoso for 60+ years and still have the catalogue which Denise McCluggage autographed shortly before she died.

Frankly the only decent racing movies I’ve seen have been documentaries. Any mass audience movies are not going to satisfy serious enthusiasts and those interested in racing history. Grand Prix, Le Mans, Rush, all entertaining but ultimately unsatisfying, at least for me.

Among my favorite films is not really a racing film but one with a racing background: the male lead is a racing driver and there are a few racing scenes: Un Homme et Une Femme by Claude Lelouch, with Anouk Aimee and Jean-Louis Trintignant. Some haunting imagery.

Good article in L.A. Times Nov 10, by a writer with racing background. Impossible to make a real racing film that will cover the costs of filming and still please the enthusiasts. Suggests we look in the documentary aisle. He lists all the "racing movies", including the one mentioned above.
In my naive youth I rented a Ferrari to a film company. It came back totally trashed. They covered the resto costs, but still...

Anyway, who knows something about this 1961 picture ? As you see there is a wing on the back of the car !
