That head banging video of Norris and Sainz was hilarious, as are the ones done by hundreds of people copying them. They've really started something!

There’s always an excuse, the fact he is a **** is never published though..... what a wanker

put the whiny ****** in a ferrari or red bull and watch him get beaten every week, it’s the car, not the driver. He’s a lucky boy to be in the Mercedes, because if any one of the top six drivers were in it, they’d have gotten the same or probably even better results, and they certainly wouldn’t have been beaten by rosberg

Remember everyone, if you want more news about Mercedes or Elton, there is a dedicated section for that here, it’s called the F1 section..... hehehehehehehe Hehehehe. Check it out if you want to be sick, lots of lovely made up stats about Elton, lots of ******** about how he is a winner, tales of how he designed the entire car from the ground up, how his input to the engine programme won races, how Rosberg never really beat him, he either had a problem or was letting him win, and of course, bottles always tries his hardest to win and has never ever been given any team order to slow, let Elton past, nor hold up anyone else at any time I promise guv.

what a wonderful boy he really is, and his car is part powered by bean farts, as he became a vegan to save the whole planet, thats me and you kids, for which we owe him a massive wet kiss. What a guy. Explains the dresses though doesn’t it, wouldn’t want to be wearing trousers with no escape for all those fart gases when you live on bean shoots and prunes.... **** me, who would dare take the job of cleaner in his house, imagine the state of the toilet bowl.....

mature beyond his years is Mick.... a good sign. Well have to wait a while before we see the name Schumacher on the podium again, but hey, we have ‘lucky LeClerc’ in the meantime, so it ain’t all bad. Could be worse, Elton could buy himself a seat at Ferrari and the team would disintegrate into a mess with the whiniest ***** on the planet in one of the cars. Then again, he wouldn’t come with LeClerc there as he’d get beat every week without Toto there to slow down the second car

Good god, the guy never gives up, fastest in a straight line Toto (for half a dozen races mind you, NOT 20), as you’ve said yourself, F1 is about the whole lap, and mostly cornering, the thing we have been **** at most of the year..... hence, the Mercedes is the fastest overall package you lying, snivelling dick. Will you still be sandbagging for the rest of the season, as requested during the summer break by the FIA, or are you going to let the car off it’s leash? You cannot believe a word that comes out his mouth can you. Just like Elton, always making up ******** whether they win or lose, there’s always some ******** reason why it was either the greatest ever performance, or someone cheated to rob them. Then, when it’s over and won, we are supposed to believe that despite winning 75% of the races, the Mercedes was a dog and could barely beat the Williams! What utter ********* Toto

A potential TLDR article, but very interesting. Some stuff has already been covered, but I thought it worth passing on as it has some insightful info

    GP MEXICO/USA

Mercedes is back. Almost as good as they were at the beginning of the year. They won the last 4 races, two of them 1-2, the other two 1-3. The aero package of Suzuka was a step forward. Not so much on one lap, but in the race. Mercedes has a car for sunday, Ferrari and Red Bull for saturday. However Mercedes celebrated in Austin the first pole position since Hockenheim. If they win the start as they did in Suzuka and Austin, they are unbeatable. If they start second or third they win with the better strategy or less mistakes. With bettter tyre usage, Mercedes is also more flexible in the race stategy. „You need the fastest car in the race to make an undercut or an overcut work“, said Toto Wolff.

In Mexico Ferrari lost the race with the strategy. First, they realized too late, that it was going to be a one-stop-race. If they had analysed the lap times of Ricciardo and Verstappen on the hard compound more carefully, they would have seen, that those tyres almost showed no degradation. Still they panicked when Albon made an early stop. Albon was not their target, but Ferrari called Leclerc in order to avoid an undercut. So Leclerc was out of the race for the victory. Then Ferrari had not the balls to call Vettel in early for a one stop as Mercedes did with Hamilton. Okay, as the leader, you take less risks than somebody who is running in third place. But still they waited too long. Their target lap for a one-stop was lap 30. Ferrari waited till lap 37. If they had called Vettel in lap 31, they would have saved Seb 4 seconds of catch up to Hamilton.

In Austin Ferrari messed up with the set-up. They were poor in cold conditions on Friday. In order to improve the corner speed and reduce the tyre degradation Ferrari increased the downforce. It worked for one lap, but when the temperatures increased on Sunday, Ferrari was again nowhere, in particular with full tanks on medium tyres. Leclerc lost 16 seconds the Bottas in just 14 laps. „The tyres were not in their window“, he said. It was a bit better on hard and much better on soft tyres later in the race. Vettel never really got started. He lost four positions in the opening lap and retired in lap 8 with a broken right rear suspension. As it was an upper wishbone, it was very likely not the result of hitting one of the many bumps or kerbs on the circuit.

Red Bull was back in form from Mexico onewards. Now the latest Honda spec with the new fuel, that arrived in Suzuka pays off. In Mexico Verstappen should have won. Like in the two previous years, he was the fastest man on track. But he wasted the big chance of a third win there with silly mistakes. Not to lift under a yellow flag in qualifying and to admit it publicly before the stewards could even take action was the first blackout. He said, that he did not see the yellow flag, which was difficult to believe. At least he saw the wrecked Mercedes of Bottas on the side. He should have known that no one would be able any more to beat his first timed lap, but still he pressed on. Even from the 4th place on the grid Verstappen could have won. But he collided first with Hamilton, then with Bottas. The later incident got him a puncture. That was game over. Max was just too impatient. In Austin the Red Bull was again good enough for pole position, but one lap performance was one story and the race another. The Red Bull just did not conserve its tyres as well as the Mercedes. That cost speed. He had no chance against Bottas with the same strategy, but he could heve beaten Hamilton, had there not been a yellow flag for the last two laps at the end of the long straight.

Verstappen helped Bottas to win the race. When the Red Bull driver pitted early in lap 13, Mercedes had to cover him. The undercut was again extremely strong. That meant for Bottas, that he had to do two stops, which turned out to be better that day. Hamilton was sent long. His pit stop in lap 24 meant, that the second stint on the hard tyre would become a survival trip. And it was. Bottas was eating him up twice, and Verstappen nearly got him. Hamilton‘s mistake was, that he believed, the one stop race could win him the Grand Prix. Therefore he ignored the call from the pits to change tyre. Something like that normally only happens at Ferrari, where Vettel told his engineer in Mexico when to pit. Hamilton came only one lap later in than scheduled, but it nearly lost him the second place either. In that lap he was overtaken by Bottas. First, that cost him 2.5 seconds to Verstappen. Second it meant, that Bottas was not to beat anymore.

For almost a year, Ferrari, Mercedes and Red Bull stood united. The three top teams were not satisfied with the rule proposals of the FIA for 2021. Again and again the three parties emphasized that the new regulations offer them too little freedom. That‘s why Mercedes and Red Bull never really took action against the suspicious power advantage of the Ferrari engine. But once Ferrari decided to go its own way and signed off the new rules, peace was over. The competition did not dare to protest, but they asked for clarification. In the end it was Red Bull, who did it. Mercedes and Honda kept their hands clean. Red Bull wanted to know from the FIA whether it would be allowed to inject fuel in the intervals, the FIA fuel flow meter is not measuring. That is done in pulses instead of consistently. So if you are able to inject in between these pulses you would have more fuel than the permitted 100 kg/h, and the system would not detect it. And of course you achieve more power, especially in the acceleration phases. The FIA responded on November 1st to all the teams with a technical directive. TD 035/19 states that such a practice would be illegal. Thus, the questioner has not gained yet much. All he knows now is that a competitor would have to give up the trick in the future if he had ever used it. Mercedes, Honda and Renault were now observing Ferrari even closer than they did before. They wanted to read out of the GPS traces and speed profiles in qualifying and in the race, whether anything has changed compared to before. According to them it did. I would say, they want to believe, that it did. Because so far there is no firm evidence that Ferrari pulled back.

If you would notice any difference, then first of all in qualifying. Ferrari unlocked their power advantage mainly in the Q3 runs and in the start lap of the race. In fact, Vettel missed the pole position only by 12 thousandths. Leclerc had to use a specification 2 engine following an oil leak with the original power unit. It is estimated that the difference to the latest version is at least 10 hp. Nevertheless, in his ideal time, he was just 0.061 seconds slower than Bottas. The lap times in the qualification did not underpin the suspicions of the opponents. However, when comparing the speeds on the straights Red Bull and Mercedes noted that their time loss had shrunk by half. Compared to Friday and over other racetracks with a similar layout. Binotto explained: „We sacrificed speed on the straights in favor of more cornering speed. That‘s why we did not lose so much in the corners and did not win as much on the straights as we normally do.“ In other words: Ferrari increased the downforce for Saturday and Sunday. If Saturday was still a dubious testament to the theories of Red Bull and Mercedes, then Ferrari‘s opponents felt confirmed on Sunday. Ferrari was nowhere, finished 52 seconds behind the winner. But what did it tell us? Vettel never has been really in the race. He felt no grip from the first corner onwards and retired soon with a broken suspension. Leclerc did not get the tires into the window in the first stint. He lost in the corners, not on the straights. On the hard and soft tyre at the end it went better. Leclerc set the fastest lap on a fresh set of soft tires. He was 8 tenths faster than Bottas in bis best lap on fresh medium tyres, which has been the normal gap between the two compounds. Max Verstappen said after the race being asked about Ferrari‘s performance by his Dutch TV station: „This happens when you have to stop cheating.“ I think it was premature and therefore pretty stupid. The race in Brazil will give us a much better picture, whether Ferrari had done something illegal or not. In Interlagos straightline speed is much more important than in Austin. Then we will see whether there is a difference to before or not. If so, then it is fair to have doubts. If not, Red Bull and Mercedes will have to find a new explanation for Ferrari‘s power advantage.

In the midfield McLaren can be quite sure to defend P4 in the last two races. They go with an advantage of 38 points on Renault into the last two races. On one lap McLaren has clearly now the fourth fastest car in the field. Like in Suzuka they lost only half a second to the front runners in qualifying. In the race Renault has been an equal rival in Mexico and Austin, mainly because of their lower tyre degradation. Renault was able to strike back after the disqualification in Japan. The stewards rejected the protest of Racing Point, finding the brake system legal under the Technical rules. In the course of their investigation the FIA however found a brake bias system, that was taking workload off the drivers, and therefore could have been seen in its function as a driver aid. For Renault the judgement „legal, but not legal“ was acceptable. Like this they saved face. Important at a time, when the new interim president Clotilde Delbos announced, that everything in the company is under close scrutiny, including the F1 operation.

Sauber confirmed Antonio Giovinazzi for the second cockpit next year. Frédéric Vasseur wanted to have Hülkenberg in the car, but the pressure of Ferrari to keep Giovinazzi was too big. That is the price that you pay, when you are too dependant on the big brother. Giovinazzi had one year time to prove whether he is a new Leclerc. We know now that he is not. Ferrari should know as well. So why to keep him? Hülkenberg would have been a better choice for the team. He now might take a simulator job for a year or accept a drive in IndyCar. Ed Carpenter is looking for someone, who does the road races for him in the second car. He only is driving the ovals. That would fit Hülkenberg is not be too keen to drive the oval races. In 2021 he has good chances to come back, as most of the contracts are running out at the end of next year.

The FIA World Council unanimously approved the 2021 rules on 30 October. That included the vote of Ferrari, which is the only team represented in the World Council. FIA President Jean Todt summed it up: „It is a milestone in the history of the Sportd. For the first time, we‘ve put the technical, sporting and financial rules in one package. That will give Formula One a sustainable base.“ Ferrari‘s approval came as a surprise. Only two weeks before they still were in the other camp, which tried to stop the new rules happening. It looks that Liberty followed Bernies advice: „Try to pull Ferrari in your boat, then you also get the rest.“ That‘s what they did. They convinced Ferrari with a set of concessions. Ferrari is the only team to get a historic bonus. They still have kind of a veto right, not as strong as before, but enough to please them. And it was agreed to allow a bit more freedom in certain areas of the car. As soon as Ferrari agrred to the rules, also Red Bull and Mercedes stopped their campaign against the plans of the FIA and Liberty. Marko said: „Ferrari always did what suits them. This should not have been a surprise to us. We will continue as long as Honda continues. Red Bull has two teams, one race track and one Grand Prix. You do not waste such an investment.“ Honda is supposed to make a decision on their future before the final race in Abu Dhabi. According to Toto Wolff also Mercedes will embrace now the new rules, hoping that they still can be fine-tuned on the way to 2021. But also Wolff has to wait until the board makes a general decision on their F1 engagement. That is not influenced by the new set of rules, but rather on a wider picture, whether they want to compete in motorracing at all. Lewis Hamilton however has made up his mind already. He confirmed, that he would like to carry on after 2020. „I want to be the pioneer of the new era, helping Mercedes to develop a car for these new rules.“

These are the rules for 2021:
    THE TECHNICAL RULES

The for 2021 regulations cover three areas: sports, technology, finance. FIA and Formula 1 management have been working on the reset of Formula 1 since September 2017. The concept of the new car went through 13 stages of development. The last version named „Lima“ has been refined at the request of the teams in recent weeks. The architects of the 2021 car, Nikolas Tombazis and Pat Symonds, gave the engineers a bit more freedom in some areas. For example, at the nose, the side pods, the floor, the airbox and the front wing. That was to counter criticism of the teams that the cars will look all the same. The FIA showed three versions that differ significantly in at least five major areas.

The FIA has changed its philosophy when writing the technical rules. While every detail was previously described in terms of size, weight or specification, the car is now divided into 50 legality boxes and a coordinate system in x-y-z. In some of these boxes there is freedom, in others strict rules of form and equipment apply.

The new car looks more elegant, tidier and simpler. One could speak of a modern retro look. The front wing, for example, is now growing out of the nose again. We last saw this at the beginning of the 90s. Barge boards disappear completely. This too has been an invention of the early 90s. We get 18 inch wheels and tires back, which has a flavour of the 60s. Finally, the ground-effect principle returns. It was banned at the end of 1982.

The teams fear that the cars will be up to six seconds slower from 2021 onwards. Pat Symonds believes that it will only be half as much. Nikolas Tombazis clarifies: „We expect lap times that will be between three and three and a half seconds slower. Our model was developed by a small group of seven aerodynamicists. The teams have many more people available. Therefore, we expect a steep development curve.“ Ross Brawn brings a comparison:“ We will start with the 2016 output figures.“

The cars will lose almost 20 percent downforce despite ground effects with huge tunnels under the bodywork. A further tightening of safety rules, the heavier tires, power units weighing 5 kilograms and the use of standard parts push the weight from 743 to 768 kilograms. The wheelbase will be limited to a maximum of 3600 millimeters. The car length shrinks by almost 10 centimeters.

The main purpose of the new rules was to make them more raceable. The turbulences behind the car will directed with the new concept of the diffusor and rear wing upwards. This should allow the front wing of the rear-driving car to work in almost clean air. One car length behind a car is supposed to produce still 86 percent of its downforce. At the moment it is 55 percent. Three car lengths behind the downforce level increases to 94 percent. Today it is 68 percent. Tombazis explains, „We simplified the front wing and banned the barge boards, giving engineers less ability to control the air flow backwards.“

The engine regulations will be only adjusted. It remains with the 1.6-liter V6 turbo with two electric machines. The power units will be 5 kilograms heavier, because the choice of materials used is further limited. Exclusive contracts may not be concluded with manufacturers of turbochargers and batteries. The high-pressure fuel pump becomes a standard part. By 2021, the fuel must consist of 20 percent biomass. This proportion should be increased continuously in order to drive as soon as possible with completely CO² neutral fuels.

These are the most important dimensions and numbers:

    Width car: 2000 mm

Width front wing: 1950 mm (now 2000)

Height Front wing: 100 mm (now 75)

    Width of bodywork: 1600 mm

Width upper rear wing: 1300 mm (now 1050)

Width lower rear wing: 800 mm

Height rear wing: 900 mm (now 870)

Height car: 960 mm (now 950)

    Max. Wheelbase: 3600 mm

Minimum weight: 768 kg (now 743 kg)

Dimensions of tires: 305/710 mm (front), 405/710 mm (rear)

Weight power unit: 150 kg (now 145)

Transmission: 8 gears + reverse gear

In order to save costs and bring the field closer together, some non-visible parts have been standardized or prescribed in a narrow framework. It is divided into five categories. Parts that everyone has to build themselves, such as the chassis, the wings, the fairing, the wiring harness or the radiator (LTC). Parts that each team is allowed to build themselves, but whose drawings must be made available to other teams such as the DRS mechanism, the drive shafts, the steering column, the steering wheel or the brakes (OSC). Parts that anyone can make themselves, but for which there is no constructive margin, such as the plank, the brake drums or the wheel covers (PDC). Parts that are completely standardized, such as the high-pressure fuel pump, other parts of the fuel system, various sensors, the collector tank or the rims (SSC). And parts that can be sold by one team to another, such as the hydraulics, clutch or suspensions (TRC).

These are the abbreviations: LTC (Listed Team Components), OSC (Open Source Components), PDC (prescribed design components), SSC (Standard Supply Components) and TRC (Transferable Components).

    THE SPORTING RULES

The sports law was completely restructured. It is now written on 88 instead of 70 pages. The key point here is cost saving. To increase the number of races to 25, new restrictions apply to the schedule on a weekend. This starts from 2021 on a Friday. Here‘s a European race schedule to show what the new timetable looks like:

    Friday: 9.00-11.00 h: Scrutineering

    12.30-14.00 h: First practise

    16.00-17.30 h: Second practice

    Saturday: 12.00-13.00 h: Third practise

    15.00 -16.00: Qualifying

    Sunday: 15.10 h: race start

As the cars are presented at the scrutineering on Friday, they have to drive from Saturday onwards. With the exception of the rear wing, certain suspension components and the radiator, nothing may be changed. In the free practice sessions on Friday, the teams may test components. The cars have to be rebuilt on Saturday into the same specification they had been homologated on Friday. This is to prevent the teams to travel with several different aerodynamic specifications to the races and to make a late choice before qualifying. The teams are allowed to work on the cars under parc fermé conditions for three and a half hours each Friday and Saturday after the practise sessions.

The number of engines and transmissions remains subject to limit. The elements of the power unit remain the same as before. New is: Only eight exhaust systems may be used per season. The number of gearbox casings is limited to three per year, that of the braking system on one per race.

    THE BUDGET CAP

Ross Brawn defends the introduction of a cost cap with the words: „Formula 1 has become a victim of its own success. As a result, budgets rose to unacceptable numbers. We had to protect the teams from themselves.“ Chase Carey adds: „In the future it will no longer important how much money you spend, but how you use your money.“ 2020 will be a test season. A team of Deloitte financial experts controle the budget of the teams to find out how that works. But there are no penalties yet.

Those who do not stick to the budget cap from 2021 onwards risk severe sports penalties, including the loss of the Constructors‘ World Championship. The team principal are personally held liable and can lose their license in violation of the regulations. You would then be banned from all FIA series. The teams are allowed to spend a maximum of $ 175 million per season from 2021. Expections are:

    > The engine costs: 12 to 15 million dollars

    > Driver salaries: $ 5-45 million

    > The salaries of the three highest paid employees: $ 3 million to $ 15 million

    > The travel and freight costs: 10 to 20 million dollars

    > The marketing budget

    > Museum costs

For the top teams, the real cost cap including the exceptions around $ 250 million. While the small teams had desired a budget cap of a maximum of $ 150 million, Toto Wolff says that the 175 million are a sensible limit. „There is no inflation surcharge. In three years, $ 175 million of the purchasing power is worth only $ 160 million.“ Ross Brawn is hopeful that it works. „We have a foot in the door now. If we had not taken this step, there would never have been a budget cap.“ The FIA reserves the right to reduce the budget cap from 2024 onwards if needed.

    THE MONEY DISTRIBUTION

The small teams are better off. Only for Ferrari there are still special rights. The oldest racing team in Formula 1 will receive a history surcharge of 5 percent of the whole amount, worth about $ 50 million. There is also a so-called Championship bonus. Anyone who has finished in the top 3 of the Constructors‘ Championship in the last ten years will receive money after a point system. In this pot come 20 percent of what is distributed over 650 million dollars. At the moment that would be about $ 60 million. The Ferrari bonus and the Championship money are deducted from the total amount of the available money. The rest of approximately $ 850 million is split into two columns:

    > The entry fee: 50 percent will be distributed equally to all ten teams.

    > The prize money: 50 percent will be paid according to the World Championship position.

With this system the Champion would get $ 128 million from the remaining $ 850 million, the tenth-placed team $ 55 million. A team in the midfield benefits. If you finish in fifth place today, you can expect to receive $ 70 million. In 2021, the same position would be worth $ 95 million.
