Can't imagine who thought that was a good idea. I predict it will be back to red again before long.

Was this delivered to the Sultan and this scheme by Ferrari, or was it done by an outside third party before delivery back in the day?

As far as I know the car was delivered in its standard spec (red on red and LHD). All the modifications (conversion to RHD, repaint, interior retrim, AC, power windows etc) must have been done by Pininfarina, before the car even touched the ground in Brunei.

It looks like it has been restored to it's original Pininfarina colour - the paint in the showroom pic of the car back in the '90s looks matte. I remember seeing some pics on this thread of several 456s sprayed matte black by PF for Brunei back in the '90s. I'm sure all will be revealed when DK posts a write-up on their website. The colour isn't my cup of tea! The best colour I've seen the F40 in is a dark green (Verde Abetone) - looks absolutely stunning!!

Now that I look back at the old photos posted above, it seems that the original paint was indeed a matte finish. Look at the 'softened' reflections on the body. It'a insane to think about a matte paint in the late Eighties/early Nineties! WOW!

Brunei received at least 13 (thirteen) F40's of which at least three had been repainted (Matte) Grey (repainted by Pininfarina prior to delivery to Brunei).
So, which of the F40's are we talking here? Serial number please.

Only one of which is pictured above as sold by Talacrest. I'm sure you can easily look it up in your comprehensive records rather than diverting this thread into more tedious chassis number nonsense.

I like it in grey with the red stripe. just like I like the 288 in black with the red stripe, too. A little diversity is always good.

I didn’t know that so many F40’s where delivered to Brunei. I knew only 6 or 7. Neither did I know three (!!!) got repainted in matte grey.

In the meantime, DK Engineering posted on Facebook some new photos:

When those pics were taken a couple of years ago, John Collins of Talacrest wanted £2million for it. I assume DK will add at least £500k now that it's been restored. If I recall, this example is a '92 cat car; personally I would pay the premium for an earlier non cat LHD with sliding windows.

I always disliked that the car had been returned to Rosso Corsa and lost it's unique history a bit.

Doubly so that it was converted inside too.

I'm really glad it's back in the grey with the red stripe, it looks fantastic. Highly doubt we'll see the interior returned to the way it was though.

Sorry but this to me is utterly obscene. Especially the 10 F50s.

I was talking to mike sheehan about the cars and going through the thread. He has some very interesting input. Mainly that most of the cars are all RHD and have no emissions. So what can you do with them?
