That's what I'm here for, Jason, to expand your horizons on weird food aversions! I'm just glad I moved to Texas and found a condiment (salsa) I like!

In El Paso on business and found a little joint on Yelp called Pot au Feu.

Calamari was the happy hour special appetizer. Crunchy, tasted good.

Bourekas. A tad greasy, but nice. Filling was mushroom and eggplant. The white stuff is like Lebanese toum. Super garlicky!

Wife and I shared a hanger steak and frites. Also quite good.

You can't not like marinara with your fried cheese.;)

I've known some weird eaters in my time. My friends gf in high school would never eat the end of any food. Ever. French fries, chicken, whatever. Never eat the end of it. Which I asked, on something like a fry, how do you decide what end to start on? They're married today and her pallet is not picky at all now, however, she has to eat a specific diet for health reasons recently. She's way different than when I first met her.

Another friends wife is the most picky eater I've ever met. To put it simply, plain chicken and pizza is about all she'll eat. Of course she eats more, but that's the easiest way to define her habits. She does not like mexican food.:eek::eek:

I don't eat calamari with sauces. Just a bunch of lemon wedges and ketchup. Even as a kid growing up when my mom would make calamari, bay scallops and fries by the baking tin-full, all we had on the table were lemon wedges and ketchup. (And we only spoke Italian at home, never English)

Now I need to bring my own sugar free ketchup whenever I go out.

When my grandma made them, it was lemon wedges. I don't remember any sauce or marinara or such...T

We were on the same page. I went to my weekly dinner with my friend and our dads and had a bowl of chili with fritos. I've had the chili there 3 or 4 times and just realized to ask for fritos.

That sounds good. I do the same with calamari if there is no red sauce.

    That sounds good though.

I ordered take out for an early dinner at 3 because I was hungry again. I only ate some of it. I've got the egg rolls in the oven. I ordered the shanghai beef if I remember correctly.

I used to live within waddling distance of a Fatburger ~ in Los Feliz, CA. Great Jukebox & staff knew me on sight ~ even at drive-thru once ~ as "El Guapo" ~ which was usually shouted with great enthusiasm, even if they were waiting on others, etc.. Feast on Saturday & aftertaste gone by Tuesday.

    Yum. Nothing like mom's cooking!

Still in El Paso. Ate at a place called Anson11.
Wife and I shared two small pizzas.

Margherita. Had a little drizzle of balsamic, which I would have enjoyed more if they had something spicy like red pepper flakes to balance. Good otherwise, very good crust.

Pear and gorgonzola. A little cheap on the toasted pecans IMO, but I'd eat this again, and will try to remember to recreate at home...T

Pizza looks great, T...…. The price looks reasonable as well. Considering the price of pizza from mediocre places here is high.

I don't feel like leaving the house. Think I'll just do Kirkland pesto over linguine. Got Cinnabon's yesterday, so I'll have one as dessert.

The rest ain't bad looking either. My wife is a potato salad aficionado. She'd chew my arm off for that.

Just back home after the long drive from El Paso. Had a few good meals, but wanted something simple. Chicken soup.

Yeah, seems that there is no in-between here, you either pay big bucks for artisan pizza or dirt cheap for chain pizza.

Max...if you ever find yourself in El Paso, and I have no idea why you might, you need to try this place, Park Tavern, since I know how much you love scallops.

I had their jalapeño scallops and it was fabulous. Best thing I ate on my trip there.
It was a biz dinner, so I didn't snap a pic. Here's the menu...

I'd make this in a heart beat at home if I thought the missus wouldn't raise Caine because it's too spicy!

oh lordy...I can't eat more than a bite or two of a cinnabon (I seem to recall trying one years ago when the aroma got to me in some mall...so darn sweet there was no way I could manage more than a bite or two...now it makes me a bit sick to smell that aroma in airports or malls when I'm passing by)

"The company says a classic Cinnabon has 880 calories, 36 grams of fat and 59 grams of sugar, the equivalent of 15 teaspoons."

I can't even comprehend a $20 fast food burger meal. That is even more than Shake Shack. Yikes. Gotta be the Cannuck-buck accounting for some of that?

Once in a blue moon, Mom would bake up Pillsbury cinnamon rolls. With all that sugar icing. We'd devour them! Then, my pancreas would hurt for the rest of the day!

I didn't look up the calories of a Cinnabon. Good lord, I had two yesterday.

Fatburger was $20.12 CDN dollars. Still pricey for fast food here.
