Agreed. It’s the nicest a$$ on a Ferrari in a long time.

The Hofmaister kink makes it look more Aston Martin. Without the muscle.

In a thin-slice, Blink way this new design language doesn’t say “Ferrari”. The old GTO, SWB, 275 GTB, Dino, et al, did immediately. One glance and you knew what it was. No longer.

My wife loves the Roma. I really, really hate it. But she’s usually right on aesthetics. I might come around eventually. But not yet.

Your wife is right, Matt. It shares exactly the same design language as the recent Monza, and looks like a 612 in profile. And it would leave a 612 for dead.

Totally irrelevant, since this is not a stock car. Stock F40s sound agricultural. Also, they didn't have to contest with emission and sound regulations back then.

Matt, this Roma will be a top seller for Ferrari. They’re taking direct aim at would be Aston buyers and imho I think they nailed it.

The horsepower is rated at 620 CV (metric horsepower), which just happens to translate to 611.52 BHP. I guess that people want to see connections everywhere... :D

It's too expensive for aston buyers imo, £200k+ with options

it just doesn't look very Ferrari to me in styling, although it is pretty

I don’t suppose you’ve happened to see Ferrari’s latest financial or the share price movement over the past 2 years? Doesn’t look like anything they’re doing is a “proven bad idea”.

The company has changed - it’s growing and will never be like it was 5-10 years ago. I have mainly hardcore Ferrari’s and could easily see myself potentially buying a Roma. It’s very beautiful in the flesh. They don’t need Pininfarina any longer and designs like this and the SF90 validate the decision to move away. The world has moved on and these guys are executing brilliantly! Kudos to the whole team at Maranello.

Remember when Porsche was a near bankrupt company and now generates the overwhelming majority of their revenue from SUVs. If that means they can deliver models like 918 and GT3/RS then great.

Ferrari is doing a Porsche on a lesser scale. It is broadening and the new models will expand the customer base. But if that means they can still deliver great hardcore cars that I like - brilliant!

Absolutely stunning! The rear end is fantastic, and also the interior is great.
Blu Roma for me is the best colour, with beige interior. Then, remember that "live", all Ferraris are ten times better than in pictures!

Oh great, the fuel filler cap is on the passenger side. Just when I stopped pulling up to the wrong side of the pump with my 360 after the similar location on the 456M!

This is a first world problem, isn't it? :)

    Marcel,

Thank you for sharing the picture of the shield-less model Roma

You have unparalleled knowledge and are generous regarding sharing it

I would like to clarify my previous comment

I have huge respect for Ferrari racing and just feel it is wrong to put shields on a car that is not associated with the racing team

I know Ferrari pockets some easy profits, etc. by selling shields (at multiple price points, standard, hand painted, carbon fiber)

Plus visually I find the shields break the beautiful lines of the cars

Back to the Ferrari sponsored marketing survey I participated in, there was a good amount of time on what I thought about Aston Martin and who buys them (a more elegantly attired, refined type)

There was also a lot of time allocated to the Ford GT

I was asked how I felt about the Roma, the other recent models, how the higher volume and SUV would impact brand image

I'm surprised that this deep into the thread on the Roma there hasn't been more discussion about the wheels. Usually, that's one of the first things F-Chatters comment on and gripe about. The Roma's wheels look fantastic to my eyes! A great modern interpretation of the classic Ferrari 5-point design, that suites the image of the Roma, perfectly.
