Of the 3 GTOs painted silver that I'm aware of this appears to be the only one that remains in this color, hopefully at least the unfortunate modification to the front end will be reversed one day.
55629 is a 288 GTO. 19 February 1985 completed. Engine #144. Gearbox #136. Scaglietti body #131. New to Sicily and still there. Marcel Massini
I did see that car when it was for sale at 'Hessing's Autobedrjven' in De Bilt. I went to see a Testarossa they had for sale and then I noticed the 288GTO! It was an original Dutch supplied car. They asked 750.000 DFL for it. The Testarossa was very dissapointing, it was in a very sorry condition and that after being just 10 years old!
Not sure if you guys have seen the attached but it is a very good vid from Tom Hartley Jnr. He looks at one of the 6 prototypes at 22.15 minutes and tells a good story about it.. Rest of vid is well worth a look.

It is still around... Saw it today at Interclassis Brussels. Can someone destroy it please? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Actually I wish you could delete this post so we didn't have to look at this caricature of a 288 GTO in a thread for the real thing
Perhaps it does have some perspective to show how different the GTO is to the 308... Friend of mine did the GTO tour and apparently it was incredible to drive with so many GTO's..
55233 up for auction next week... Description states 'delivered new to Austria finished in white with a blue interior' but we know only half of that statement is correct... https://www.silverstoneauctions.com/events/2019-auctions/the-riyadh-car-show-auction-2019/the-riyadh-car-show-auction-2019/friday-22nd-november/1985-ferrari-288-gto Paul
