So if this is real audio (which i believe it is) and assuming this 812GTS has a GPF, how different does it sound to an 812SF?

Maybe just the audio quality but it does sound slightly muted to me. Opinions?

Id say it’s virtually impossible to tell based on this with the music.

Anyone in Oz (presume Sydney?) who can go and have a listen in person? Ideal if you are an 812 owner so can compare properly...

btw spoke to exhaust specialist in the UK yesterday. Provided the GPF isn’t too far upstream (ie. built into engine) he said it should be fairly straightforward to remove it. I’m keenly awaiting the first diagram of the GTS exhaust system....!

Despite the music in the background it sounds somehow artificial and shallow to me; less depth, dirt, scream, menace and breath than the 812SF sound.

My own 812 does not sound like this.

I have also tried to compare the sound from other Youtube videos from the 812 SF to this 812 GTS video.

IMHO, it’s not the same acoustic pattern but maybe we have an acoustic specialist in this forum who can perform a professional overlay analysis of these sound patterns to find the absolute truth?

They only rev it to just 5000 rpm so with such low revs its hard to tell.

And on top I do not think a lot of future 812 GTS owners will like that quotation out of this article if true:

However, he said “we anticipate (the GTS) will be a similar volume to the Superfast, maybe more”.

For the life of me I can't understand why so many people obsess about the "numbers produced" stuff.
I would like to own and drive an 812GTS, and I can't wait to spec it out as my dream car.
I wouldn't care one iota if every single one of my car club friends bought one too, and there ended up being 25 of us driving down the road together in 812GTS's.

I think the point is more about depreciation.... (i.e. less rare car = holds value less well)

Is this obsession with depreciation ever going to end?
it's why these amazing cars aren't driven....sad, just sad.

Well, as I have already stated recently, I have decided against an 812 GTS allocation and went for a second hand 812 SF instead.
I know quite some 812 SF owners who have decided to go for an 812 GTS allocation because of various reasons but also because of the expectation that this car should hold up in value much better or even appreciate because of the very nature of the car and the potential barriers of entry (3 Ferraris at one point or 2 V12’s or minimum an 812 SF) as well as an anticipated product life cycle of only two years.

So if this interview should turn out to be correct, then I would not be surprised if some of them would be disappointed because this would make their original value proposition less attractive for them in hindsight.
Furthermore, what currently happens within the 812 SF and also the GTC4Lusso aftermarket with even accelerated depreciation for well known reasons should not become the status quo going forward in my opinion as it only will dilute the brand.

Besides, I agree with you that these amazing cars should be driven. This is what I do with my Ferraris as well almost every day.

As long as they keep getting more expensive, no. From a net worth perspective, these cars are hefty assets that make up large portions of their owner’s balance sheets.

Although I would argue that a new Ferrari is a terrible investment, any privy buyer will treat it as such from a financial planning perspective. I would also argue that if you really have to think about depreciation too much, you probably shouldn’t be buying a new Ferrari. But still, most people who can afford a new Ferrari have been successful from a financial planning/investing perspective, and therefore the majority of new Ferrari buyers will care about depreciation to some degree (although a handful of UHNW individuals have so much money it simply doesn’t matter). Thinking about depreciation on your first Ferrari purchase may very well be the reason why you are able to afford to own a full collection of Ferrari’s 20 years down the road.

Until Ferrari comes out with a ~$40k mass production vehicle for the masses (which will hopefully never happen), depreciation will remain relevant.

Also, regarding the sound, from the short clip in the video it actually sounds pretty good to my ear. The difference from non-GPF 812 to this seems to be less drastic than the difference between the non-GPF 488 vs F8.

Will need to see more videos and hear in real life before we can tell for sure.

See other thread where I posted a more useful video. I think it sounds somewhat muffled vs. the 812 SF but not too bad..?!

Something I've been thinking about lately, and looked a bit further into a week ago, while spending almost 6 hours in the Lusso. It's interesting how much of the noise is actually coming from the induction. Yes there is of course exhaust noise as well, but it is a surprisingly large amount of noise that is actually from the intake side. This may very well be part of why the gpf does not have a huge effect on sound in the 812. And again, if loss of hp is a measure in relation to restriction, then we are actually looking at a smaller effect than cats. The cats on the 812 robs 20 hp but the gpf robs 15. Yes it will have some effect, but I'm certain that it will be nothing like the F8. I finally heard a GT3RS with it and it was extremely close to a GT3RS without. I think it will be fine.

Couldn't agree with you more, as a matter of fact I had Capristo's fitted to my Lusso12 and I was quite shocked just how much we think induction noise is exhaust, the capristos made it louder for sure but I am not totally sure it was that much better as there is tons of resonation even with the valves closed. Anyhow I had fun and configured a GTS today.. it will a great car!

Yep. The induction is a big part of the sound, especially at wide open throttle. When floored, it almost has the same effect on sound as a Rochester Quadrajet carb opening its secondaries.
That's what I like about the current V12. When you put your foot in it, it really comes alive with a throaty deep roar as the short runners in the plenums are opened. Revving the V12 stationary does not come close to flooring it through the gears where it can really open up.

Picking up my 812 tomorrow! Can't wait. I've only driven one once, in the rain, and I am coming out of a Portofino, so I expect a big difference!
Also getting a Novitec exhaust and X pipe fitted before Xmas...it's going to sound sweeeeeet!
