You stats guys can confirm this but I believe Isles were worst defensive time (GAA) two years ago and last year Trotz took them to best defensive tea. He's the real deal.
I SURE agree with that. And further, to think we (Detroit Dead Things) could have hired him................or Joel Quenneville............. and we're stuck with Blashhill. I'm not on board - his time is up! I enjoyed both games Buff vs. Lightning from Stockholm.
Whaaaaaaaa-ttt? Look Mike, don't care (and I certainly take no offense to his comments). You do? P C be damned. We love us some Grapes and he is what he is. I'll take him for what he is. I hope for MEGA backlash against CBC.
Neal, Cherry has been racist his entire life. The fact that he singled out immigrants when NOT EVERY Canadian wears a poppy just provides further proof that he is. He would have been better off saying "All/any Canadians not wearing a poppy should be ashamed of themselves, go out and spend $2 and get one".
After 75,000 names for an online petitions for Don Cherry, they set up a meeting to protest outside of Sportsnet headquarters.....and, as you can see, the amount of people that showed up in support of Don Cherry is about the same amount of "us" Canadians that wear a poppy on Nov 11..... https://www.nhl.com/news/toronto-maple-leafs-coach-mike-babcock-confident-in-job-security/c-311477934 "Mike Babcock isn't paying attention to rumors about his job security as coach of the Toronto Maple Leafs. "I'm going to do it as hard as I can, as long as I can," Babcock told TSN on Monday. "I've always bet on Mike Babcock, I'll continue to bet on him." The Maple Leafs (9-9-4) are 0-4-1 since Babcock became the eighth coach in NHL history to reach 700 wins when they defeated the Vegas Golden Knights 2-1 at Scotiabank Arena on Nov. 7. "I'm in a pretty good spot in my life," Babcock said after practice in Las Vegas on Monday. "My kids are grown; if my kids were young, I'd never coach in Toronto. In my spot, I won't spend a whole lot of time listening. I do get text messages from people that are friends of yours and they're sending you texts, well, they care about you." "
I was at this game last night. One of the most incredible saves I've ever seen. I thought for sure the puck was in the net. Its not just the save. Its that Toronto was really putting on the pressure to tie the game. If this went in, I'm sure the Knights would have lost. Tweet— Twitter API (@user) date
So this is unfortunate because they actually played pretty well against the Knights last night. 2nd period was really weak but they really poured it on in the 3rd. Fleury won the game all by himself. Of course the leafs have been in a slump but it looks like they were really trying hard to win rather than "poor coaching" But you cannot fire the team as they say...
There was a players only meeting last week. 90% of the players can't stand him and wanted him fired. He is the most overrated coach in NHL history. He has a serious ego problem which he put ahead of his coaching. He's getting paid $50 million to win hockey games, not to but heads and pull rank on his star players. His constant game of one-upmanship finally caught up to him, and there aren't many people sad to see him go.
Although they are still 3 points behind the Capitals, the Islanders have been awarded this week's #1 Power Ranking by ESPN. Their streak of 16 games in the points is a franchise record (and this is a franchise that won four Cups in a row!).
I was at the Bruins game last night (I didn't win any more money ), and when Rask made this save I thought it was right up there with the one Mayor posted above.
Wow Dallas dropped the hammer on their coach in a heartbeat. Unprofessional behavior? https://www.dallasnews.com/sports/stars/2019/12/10/dallas-stars-fire-coach-jim-montgomery-due-to-unprofessional-conduct/
Forbes list of NHL teams value. revenue and income Rangers #1, Arizona #31 Several teams have negative operating income (aka they are losing money) Which begs the question: Why build another team in Seattle when can just move Arizona or Florida there. They can't do any worse. https://www.forbes.com/nhl-valuations/list/#tabverall
