Downloaded a copy of the workshop manual and found the wiring diagram(s) disappointing. Are there other/better diagrams available?

I'm not sure how you'd check without pulling your car to pieces. There are variations in relay numbers and fuses, but you'd need to remove the front luggage compartment liners to find them. Anyway, I've provided a link below to my standard 5.2 zip package with both Bosch and Teves (and USA and Euro-based lighting diagrams).

I've been developing and improving them over the last 5 or 6 years and upload my latest versions on a regular basis, so if you bookmark this forum post, come back to it for the latest version.

    F355 5.2 Wiring Diagram Package

There are a great number of variations from car to car and I haven't been able to provide diagrams for all. I've tried to add notes to the diagrams to highlight a few of the variations, but there will always be something I've missed. I have set of (non-F1) Ferrari F355 paper manuals for the USA, so if you have a specific wiring fault, we could go more deeply into specifics, but I'm not entirely sure Ferrari have covered all the variations.

    Hope this helps
    Cheers
    Ian.

P.S. If you can upload the diagrams to an iPad or similar device, you can zoom and pan the diagrams to help with wire tracing. For editing, I open up the diagrams in Windows Paint.
P.P.S. If you could update your profile to show your specific car type, it will help us to diagnose any problems which arise.

Open the engine hood, within 5 seconds you can tell if you have Teves or Bosch.

How, Mitch? There are early 5.2 cars with Teves. Most of the components are hidden in the front luggage compartment.

The Teves system generates its own high pressure and does not require vacuum assist.

The Bosch brake system has a traditional master cylinder, vacuum power assist and needs a vacuum hose attached to it. There is not enough vacuum generated by the running engine so Ferrari has to use a vacuum pump driven off the rear of the camshaft on the left bank. It is a device about as big as your fist.

If there is a vacuum pump attached to the rear of the left bank head with a metal hose running toward the front of the engine, then you have a Bosch brake system. You flipping lucky bastard.

2.7 or 5.2 Motronics, Paul? Your profile page doesn't have your car.

    Here's the 5.2 diagrams (zip file/gif format):

Many thanks. I have a 5.2, so perfect.

I'm trying to diagnose why the oil temperature gauge isn't working and it seems I have an open circuit somewhere on the wire between the sensor and gauge.

    Thanks again
    Paul

It's not so easy to break up the circuit into sections. Connector 41024 is the only break and not so easy to get to. You have to remove the carpeted section on the centre console.

41024 is shown in this old photo. I'm not sure where you're from, but this is a left hand drive car.

I believe the temperature wire is brown on pin 13

I'm in the UK, so right hand drive.

Thanks for the photo. At least that will help me check the wire from the connector back to the engine bay.

Ah, in that case, turn the image of the plug upside down...

This is looking at the male plug pins (not the back of the plug). This will be the same as my Aussie car.

Is the oil temperature warning light working?

    All fixed.

After checking the continuity all the way from front to back, I found the wire had a break inside the installation 10cm from the tank sensor. Looked fine externally, but after probe piecing the installation I found the break. The wire inside was just rotten. Have cut back and extended the wire now.

    Thanks

Assuming you have Bosch brakes, this should be what you are looking for "Mr Burn".

I've included Teves and Bosch ABS systems. I assume non-F1.

Any issues in particular? Maybe I can point you to the right diagram.

    Mostly this is caused by
    1) the immobiliser not being disarmed
    2) incompatibility of the scanner
    3) things powered up in the wrong sequence. Old serial ports are not like USB devices. Everything needs to be plugged in and powered up before attempting communication. Even then, I sometimes have issues. Experimentation is required.

My scanner doesn't have a Ferrari selection. I recall I have to use Audi or BMW.

I thought about fitting an OBD2 port to my car, but I don't like the thought of cutting into the wiring. Here's how the USA cars are wired up:
