Hulkenberg is available now.
Ralf has an opinion about Vettel and his future - https://www.planetf1.com/news/ralf-sebastian-vettel-driving-for-his-ferrari-future/
No, Hulkenberg is a bad idea. But I am sure George Russell is craving for a decent car, and he has some credentials too. He beat Albon and Norris in F2.
I see Bottas as the transition guy, for when Hamilton retires. At the end of 2020, or possibly 2021. So I think Toto will keep Valteri on a short leash until then, to bring a Young driver alongside to replace Lewis. Bottas would be Number One until the new guy hopefully proves himself to take over. I may be all wrong, of course.
Binotto is a very smart guy , His main goal right now is to solve Vettel mental weaknesses, I am sure he will succeed without panic . No need for hulkenberg ,Russell or other nonsense options.
Kimis glory days are in the past. His fire was partially extinguished as soon as he won his sole WDC.
Let's assume Vettel finally realizes that he is not a match to Leclerc. Do you think he would try to move to Mercedes in 2021 or he would retire altogether? Also, I think Hülkenberg would be a great number 2 to Leclerc, no?
I don't think Mercedes would ever recruit Vettel. Hulkenberg hasn't demonstrated anything in his many years in F1; so why a top team would consider him?
If team principal is in discussion and we're dreaming, Ross Brawn is the only candidate, provided F1 will let him go
Vettel will need a place to go, so, I would suggest that Ferrari trade Seb to McLaren for Lando Norris.
I hope McLaren will never recruit Vettel. They have a promising young duo; why should they go for a fading star ?
Perhaps a little easier to say who you would not replace him with! Grosjean for starters and maybe Stroll? Any of the others could do a decent job teamed up with Leclerc. It's over Seb ,game over, tilt.
Pascal Wehrlein is already with the Scuderia, a highly under rated talent. They'd better do it sooner than later. BHW
i would put kimi in the car for the last race of this season, and offer vettel to drive the alfa. then for next season i would put vettel on the car testing squad, and bring in george russell.
Wehrlein is doing simulation work at Ferrari, which doesn't mean much. He is also driving full time for Mahindra in Formula E. He maybe under-rated, but he never had a F1 car to show any talent. IMO, he should have stayed in DTM or GT.
You guys can, and probably will, correct me if I'm wrong. But when a team has two drivers competing for that number one spot on the team, doesn't that usually result in racing between the two drivers and sometimes ending up with contact. You guys are looking to replace a driver (Vettel) with an up and coming driver and that's gonna lead to the same thing that you have right now. Look at years past when having a competent number two driver that doesn't need to prove anything, has led to the team harmony. As mentioned above..... Kimi has proven that he is willing to be the number two driver. He's fast enough to take points away from other teams and willing to give points to his teammate if need be. Vettel has proven that he is not willing to take team orders. And that alone would be enough for me to sit him on the pits/sidelines. Who else would love to hear a radio communication along the lines of..... Seb, let Charles by this lap or your next pitstop will be measured with a calendar.
