Think you're wide of the mark there Taz. I can promise you that the electrical systems on the early 612's are a lot more complex than on 575's. Mechanically, the conversion is the same for whatever year of 612; the difficulty all comes down to the electronic programming. Clearly some people have got it to work, to some extent at least.
Robin- Early 612s were Motronic 7.1.1, just like the 575M. Later ones were Motronic 7.3.2 and that makes a difference. There were Motronic ECUs for F1 and 3 pedal 612s, just like there were for the 575M. The programming is no more difficult than it was for the 575M and actually much simpler since the 612 is set up for reflashing through the OBD II connector and the 575M was not. On the 575M, you just replace the Motronics with the 3 pedal versions and the same thing will work for 612s. Reflashing, though, should be much simpler for a 612. So I think you have it backwards, the 612 is actually easier to reprogram than the 575M. All the rest of the 612 electronics have little to do with the basic Motronic interface for F1 or 3 pedals.
Taz, fully respect your expertise, but there are quite a few errors in what your saying. I have a 2005 612, and having read the ecu’s (flash and eeprom), I can tell you that it isn’t a 7.1.1. I’ll open the file tomorrow and share a screen capture if you want- from memory it’s a 7.3.4... I think. I’ll need to check. I can also confirm that the security protocols in place prevent you from accessing the flash over OBD, at least until some re-coding has been done to allow this. Unless you have the Ferrari kit, you need to go in via boot mode, which means getting into the ecu. Again- talking from experience here! As for the coding itself, the motronic is indeed configured for either f1 or manual, which only comprises setting (i understand) 4 config words from f1 to the correct manual setting. That’s it! Do that and the engine will run fine in manual mode after the conversion. That’s sadly far from the full story, as the body ecu, abs ecu, and dash ecu are all still going to be in f1 mode. So, the car will run, but will shut down after a predetermined period if it doesn’t see a TCU present. You can leave the TCU in, but clearly you’re going to get all kinds of errors on the dash. None of this is impossible to solve, but trust me on this, converting a 612 is more complicated than a 575.
Robin- I will take your word for it. Let me know about the Motronic ECUs. Early 599s were 7.1.1 and I thought early 612s were, too, from the tech data I have seen. Will have to look and see if there are separate ECUs for F1 and manual for the other functions. Does not make much sense to tie all those together differently except for the gear display, but who knows? Not the case on the 599, and the two are generally similar. F1A was used on the Superamerica, too, using 7.1.1. Knew I had seen that somewhere. Here is the 612 WSM page for the early 612. I thought 612s went to 7.3.2 along with the 599, but if they went to 7.3.4 earlier than the 599 went to 7.3.2, that would be good to know. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi Taz, I’ll open the flash file later and confirm for you. Another reason I’m so confident is that the ecu reader I was using appeared to be working fine in 7.1.1 mode, but i noticed it was only downloading 512k (flash) files. The 612 uses 1mb flash files, so it was truncating them. Switching to 7.3.4 (again, I’ll check this) and it gave me the full 1mb files.
Info from driver side ecu from my 2005 612 F1. F137 - Model code for 612 chassis Me7.2.3 Just a guess, but I assume 09/11/04 is the date that the file was created by Ferrari. Makes sense as my car was delivered early in 2005. (shows how good my memory is!)
Hi Gary, pls delete #166146 from the list, mistake from a listing. I had access to Dutch registration details and it is a F141 AB E = F1 gearbox. Also access to #162945, also Dutch, which is F141 AB M = real manual.

I do not know if it is a fake but it is noted as a conversion : "6-Speed Manual Transmission (conversion by EAG)2008 Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano Nero (Black)" and S/N is 160463 which is a F1 - you already mentionned it as a conversion. It is true that the background of the car and the background of the gear level is different.....
What about this one in Spain. If it is Blu Mirabeau, it could be 160180 ? : https://www.pikdo.online/media/B2egGbLosKe
