I am certain that you realise that taste is subjective. Every car has its target audience. I don't like "soft" cars, so this is not my kind of Ferrari. Others love it though.

My point was simply that roughly twice as many people seem to like the Roma versus the 812/SF90. It appears to be far less polarizing. Not scientific, just my assessment of the various reactions.

Ferrari ROMA is not just a smashing success, I guess it also saved Flavio Manzoni from getting fired after the huge failure of his SF90 design, I guess Mr. Manzoni has learned his lesson very well, and as a result, he came with this timeless design, which is simple, pure classic, soft and incredibly elegant.

Curious, but what's the basis for "smashing success"? Are they already sold out for years down the road?

Sometimes you come across as a design specialist who cares only about the shape. Are you the holder of a driver's license, if I may ask?

Design specialist (NO), I only care about the shape (90% TRUE).

I also believe in the near future, all cars will be driven the same way (all electric and even some self-driving cars), so the shape of the car, any car, could be the only decided factor then. And I think Ferrari already knows that sad fact, that's why the ROMA looks very different and elegant to any other new Ferrari, as it resample the future design of all new Ferraris (Look at the grille), as it was made especially for an electric car!, that grille was made like this to be added to all its future line up, where all cars will be electric.

La ROMA is the new revolution inside Ferrari and remember the future is electric, all cars will be the same, forget about performance :)

9 of every 10 people will like la ROMA, it's the type of design that can only be loved from the first sight like all 50s and 60s Ferraris ! The car has that essence of romance, a romantic design like its name "la ROMA", the city of romance.

Fortunately, we are not there yet.

Not at all. The Roma is marketed towards people who still live in he 70s. The rest of us drool over 1000 CVs SF90 Stradales. :)

You should have a closer look at Ferraris from the 50's and 60's!!!
This Roma looks like a cheap monster, unhappy it came to this world.
Have you had a glance at the "Tailor Made" program for the radiator grille?

So, to be clear ... it was only after the “failure” of the SF90, just released a few short months ago that Manzoni designed and delivered the Roma from scratch? You do realize that the design, engineering, testing processes alone take YEARS, right?

I love the Roma and think the design is absolutely perfect for what the car is. By the same token, I love the SF90 and it is absolutely perfect for what the car is. Unlike Audi and BMW where every car in the lineup is just a slightly larger version of the same car, Ferrari’s lineup is truly unique in that there are some similarities but ultimately they each have their own character.

Regardless of what we think, they will once again sell as many of each that they care to make.

    Let's put some facts together,
    * First, Manzoni did not design the Ferrari ROMA, Francesco Russo (Ferrari's Senior Designer) did!.
    * Second, Manzoni also didn't design the SF90, simply because the SF90 is not even a design!, it's just a mix between 488, la Ferrari and Chevy Camaro ;) hh

And, now, why I'v said that la ROMA has saved Manzoni though he is not the one who designed the car!!!, simply because it was a better decision from him to not design the ROMA, I respect him for that! ;) hh

I think, in general, Flavio Manzoni isn't talented enough to head the FDC, at his his best he can only be a trend follower, he is not able to create!, and I guess there are a few talents among the FDC who deserves to head the design team, or they should go back to Pininfarina for real solid designs, but that's only my opinion!

I was literally quoting you ... when you clearly stated that the SF90 was HIS design and further stated that Roma was the design HE came up with. Of course he didn’t design either. Approved, yes.

Perhaps you should apply for the job!

He is the head of the FDC, he had to make the final decision, and of course add some minor/major changes, for sure the Camaro tail light of the SF90 was his decision, he stated that himself when he said " instead of the rounded tail lights let's be more futuristic " ! hh I guess he has seen the results/ reactions very well!, the most hated car in Ferrari history!! hh, and I can be quite sure the ROMA was supposed to carry the same Camaro tail lights! but only god saved the beautiful car! ;) ;)

You must be very young to consider the SF90 to be the most hated car in Ferrari history. Let’s see how many they sell ... then decide how hated it is.

There is one thing I like about the SF90, though it's not limited, but it's gonna be rare ! ;) ;) very very rare! That's a positive thing though ;) ;)

It appears they took a cue from the 500 Mondial (and 250 Lusso) for the grill...I would have preferred to see a similar grill mounted within the nose, rather than the way it is, stamped into the body panel and the same color as the body - looks like a plastic nose. (yeah, yeah...everyone's a critic :))

Glad to see a new poster here. What got you motivated to post? Is the Roma the motivator? Always like to see new posters with a positive first post.:)

Is it me or is anyone else not seeing the similarity between all these cars and the Roma? I mean sure if you put any two front engine coupe cars side by side they’re going to have some similarities but I feel a lot of these are a reach.

In this case yeah they both have grills that kinda slant but that’s about it to me. Maybe my eyes aren’t refined enough to see it I suppose.

Just a guess, perhaps the Portofino sales are not as strong as estimated. The Roma could resolve that issue if they can do a spider edition. Personally I am not so impressed with the appearance of the Portofino. I have never special ordered a Ferrari but the Roma is very tempting and there doesn’t seem to be any BS about your past history with Ferrari. I walked into the showroom and wanted information on the car and the sales rep was ready to take a deposit on an allotment. I would like to see a configurator on the model before making a deposit. The rep wanted 10k as a returnable deposit, is that a standard amount or does it vary by dealership?

You have no idea what elegance is. This little ugly dragon is a deadborn orphan.
Have you noticed the awful radiator grille? Poor West-Chinese farmers used to hide their tortured chickens behind this kind of material.
Have you noticed this way-too-important front part? It looks like someone with a completely oversized nose.
Have you noticed these square rearlights ? They look like they were ripped from some cheap toy, "Made in Taiwan".
Have you noticed this tasteless, fussy interior? It seems it was designed by some senile dreamer living with the intension of doing some trip to Mars.
Really, if it was some kind of new Mazda or Hyundai, I'd say: not bad. But Ferrari? This is the last thing a Ferrari should be.

And talking about elegance? Have you ever heard about a 246 Dino?
