Today Ferrari showed the teams and drivers new 488 Challenge EVO at Mugello paddock. (of course no photos were allowed ) First of all car looks amazing with all the new aero additions. Front bumper is completely new with very radical aero parts, so is the the back, bottom and the rear wing. They say it will have %50 more down force than the standart 488 Challenge. It will also have wider and different compound tires. The steering wheel is completely new and looks like the GT3 wheel. also the very bad rear view camera is finally replaced with a new racing car camera. Also they said the brakes were modified so that it wont eat discs and pads like there is no tmrw :) but still no steel discs:mad:
They also claimed that it will lap Mugello track 1 sec. faster than the old 488 Challenge.

It will go public on Saturday

New brakes is something I will be very happy about.
The current Challenge eats brake pads daily…!

Thank You. But what a mess are finals for racers. we had to quali with +50 cars  and 4 red flags within 30min. So many unexperienced and irresponsible guys. I am done with challenge races, enough is enough. Next year something else GT Open or Blancpain.

Are you guys doing Gulf12hrs this year?

I personally don’t know of any SF90 XX. Being consistent with the past, would Ferrari potentially go with an 812 XX? I say that because Cosworth was able to get 1000hp out of a similar size block at 10,500 rpm. For a $2M car. XX cars aren’t cheap so perhaps this could be a good fit just like the initial 599XX price point was. And with improved power, (if Cosworth can do it, Ferrari probably can too), with a higher price point and for just track day usage this would be a good replacement for the 599XX.

The FXXK-Evo replacement will follow with the next Ferrari hypercar and there will not be a segment in between for an SF90 XX.

Importantly, this is totally conjecture on my part. Totally.

    Watching highlights on Sky now.
Thinking of doing Challenge next year but can't believe the size of the grid at Mugello and the difference in abilities.

The Modifications you see at the Front of this GT3 have been done by the team Octane 126 in Cooperation with Ferrari, it is not a full 2020 Version but an early development of the 2020 Version. The background here was that the Car had MASSIVE underair flow and was close to take off. So Octane developed with Ferrari the additional downforce kit which will be part of the 2020 upgrade kit. Due to the fact that the car was not homologated for the SP9 Class of the VLN, the Car had to Race in the SPX Class. Aerodynamic requirements at the Nordschleife are different from other race tracks so it's possible that Ferrari could homologate a special Nordschleife Kit with even more downforce compare to the one we will get on all GT3's next year.

EVO kit in US is $45k not including installation and tax. Pleasantly surprised it was not more considering the all new steering wheel.
