I like lots of things that are badly designed. We all do. But personally liking something is very different than trying to argue its a good design (not saying you are doing that)

Thats the problem. Far too many people cant differentiate between their personal taste and factually good design.

Theres a reason people pay huge amounts of money to go to design schools. Good design has rules and tenets. An experienced designer can break some at times, but the Tesla truck is just badly designed.

All long post-1948. Also post-1958, post-1968, post-1978, and post-1988. Volvo didn't adopt any of those tail lights until the 1990s. :D

    All the best,
    Andrew.

The '48 Cadillac tail was styled after the twin tails of the early 40's Lockheed P-38 Lightning....

Perhaps the beginning of the 'tailfin' movement.

    CADZILLA!

Glad to see Cadillac is finally naming rather than numbering future models. I've always found it shameful they haven't truly embraced their heritage and thrown what they perceive as caution to the wind. Stunning concept after concept, dating all the way back to the 16, in the stylistic trash heap only to utilize a few elements. And, Nysschen....ugh.

Lincoln, I see you. Good work and bravely march forward.

Correct. Harley Earl took members of the Styling Staff to Selfridge Air Force Base to view the P-38 Lightning.
    Tail-fins were born.

Good point, I make no judgement on the utility of the truck, my opinion is strictly on the aesthetics.

    Cheers

Result of chasing the euro brands that went by numbers?

Separately, though happening around the same time, going with standardized GM engines across the brands may've made a few of those brands irrelevant, as well (design being the only differentiation?)?

Too bad Cadillac will not start using names until they bring out electric cars by around 20130. A sign of a strong commitment to changing to names"? Be decisive and implement the change with the next round of introductions.

Not to go off thread, but imho, it won’t make an iota of difference. Unless quality control drastically improves at GM, they’re cooked. Market share will be negligible before an Elfarado or Fleetwood Brohm see the light of day. GM depreciation rivals FCA, the recognized standard of marginal residual value (Wrangler excluded). Unless you’re a fan of retro or a latter quarter patriotic boomer, who aspires to own a Cadillac? A model nameplate change seems a last gasp solution to an issue remaining unresolved.

Gorgeous car we’ll never see return.

The values on three pedals will hold quite well, imho.
