Having had the window switches refinished, the plastic panel that holds the ASR, Sport etc. switches had become tacky.

Rather than refinish this item, it was easier and more cost efficient to buy a new part. It is part 65077200 "Switch Holder Plate". It only cost £15 (c. $20) plus shipping.

The only downside is that it was a special order part that took over 4 months to arrive.

I find it hard to believe that cost only $20. There is a god.

Remove the soft finish before installing? I would.

Problem is, you'll be removing it next year when it turns sticky and replacing it again or refinishing it. I have about 5 of those here if anyone needs one, I have brand new and refinished ones.
