It was very early but there is(was?) one earlier listed on Fregister, I think.

Given that it was air freighted, my question was whether it was the first one on US soil. Although there were a few demonstrators pretty early-- no chance your car was one of those?

Could be. A title search indicates the first title was issued in Ohio on 22 October 2008.
The car was airfreighted to CA in April or May of 2008.
I brought to AL in January of 2018.

All OTOs were required to have an end customer order behind them-- dealers were not supposed to order them for inventory. So I wonder if the first owner backed out? That happened a fair amount in that time period... Or it could have been one of the demonstrators.

Yes lots of owners backed out due to financial crisis. Mine was on the floor because of this and I got 35k off if I remember correctly

Back to the original thread: I think the OTO-HGT2 is the best road car EVER!
I have not driven one without the HGT2 so I can't comment on that.
If the serial number is higher than 160338, it's an OTO.

I live in Scottsdale and stopped by just to look at the car because it's so rare to see an OTO. It's a stunning car! My OTO is Grigio over Cuoio but after seeing the bianco over cuoio in person, I fell in love...What a beauty. Enjoy the heck out of it!! I love mine...other than the occasional sticky button and 'medicore' transmission (compared to a DCT anyway), they are awesome cars. So rare to see, plush and elegant...and that V12 sound...delicious! Good choice!

    Hello d lev
I have a 2009 OTO for sale , but i’m located in Belgium ( but transport to NY is easy)
My car has some advantages and one disadvantage:
    Advantages:
    - Ferrari maintenance, no cost spared
    - last three years : new clutch, new waterpomp, new exhaust manifold, new brakes, new suspension blocks, .....
    - car is mechanically in perfect condition
    - car is esthatically in perfect condition ; every year coating has been done
    - full full option, diamand stitching, carbon inlay,.....

one disadvantage : car has aporx 60.000miles ( 92000 km) but as my ferrari dealer say : better a nice car that is driven then a garage queen were a lot of costs will rise once you start driving it.

look at the pics, but hurry, i have some others interested

Willem- Total cost to import a non-US spec 612 and convert to US specs would likely be around $20K.

And when you're done, it will be worth less (in the US) than a comparable original US-spec car. Better to sell in europe.

Practically, not that much difference between a transition 2008 and an OTO. Both have the updated F133H engine compared to the earlier F133F engine and both have faster F1 shifting. Just missing the 599 gearbox case, twin plate clutch, Superfast F1 software, Manettino, and glass roof.

Functionally, though, those transmission changes make a lot of difference in normal driving. Not just the speed of the shifting, but the smoothness as well.

Steve Maxwell does the service on my pre-oto 2008 and he hates the trans in the 599 and the oto cars. Feels that they do not hold up very well and he does way more work on those transmissions than the pre-oto transmissions.

Interesting, because I have only heard the opposite. Especially in regard to the durability of the clutch.

His concern was the failure rate he sees in the actual discs. Sees them wear out way faster.
